Ooh. That's going to put the Beaverbox out of business.

Very interesting, but the limit of swimming MP3 player is the audio quality of the headphones. Once you get any water in there (any you will) the audio suffers pretty badly. I finally got the SwimP3 and I love the sound of the paddles. No wires, no fiddling, just so good audio. No gret mind you, but descent.

The problem with the SwimP3 though is syncing. It is not an automatic thing like an iPod and I still haven't been able to order tracks in a playlist, but still nice to be able to listen to something.

I don't think you would want to swim with anything larger than an ipod shuffle, which you can already buy a waterproof version of from swimman.com.  The number 1 thing I want waterproofed is my forerunner; that would be perfect.

I got This one because it was cheap, and it works pretty well for me.

I can't get it to start where it left off like it was supposed to, which makes audiobooks undoable, but I think it does well with music. (Can't manage to count laps while listening to audiobooks anyway, so no big loss). The headphones cut out once, but they sent a replacement really quickly, and I haven't had a problem since.

But then again, I don't use it all that often because I'm convinced I'm going to miss the lifeguard's whistle to get out of the pool or something.

I love my water proof IPod Shuffle. Helps the long swims tick by quick.

Swimman.com refits the IPod Shuffle to be water proof. It's very small and simply clips to your goggle strap.

Just curious - how long does a swim have to be for you to feel the need for music?

I'm starting to have the idea creep in now that I'm starting to routinely hit an hour.

Would this Golden Shellback not work for forerunners too?  Hmmm, I may investigate this further...

+1

Didn't see anything on the sites that mentioned chargability of a coated device, but one of the videos shows a coated IPOD working with an audio cable connected...

yeah but how long in the water do you have? even waterproof devices tell I think have a life span.

I love the swimp3 for swimming.

I use the 2gb freestyle now for running in the pool. Its water proof with waterproof headhones but I rather just swim with the swimp3. how long will they wait to make headphone on the swim illegal in a tri?
