Pre-race routine:

as many people did I camped out the night before the race. My body and the ground argued all night and kept me up. Not so good for racing the next day.

Event warmup:

Short easy swim. It was great swimming in a mountain lake without a wetsuit. Lots more fun.

Comments:

First time swimming against dedicated masters swimmers in 20 years. Yikes, I got my ass kicked. I made every mistake possible. It didn't help that I was coming off a fractured scapula this spring. On the plus side, I did get a chance to relearn a lot of stuff that I can apply to the rest of my season.

What would you do differently?:

Obviously swim more. I got no points for being better in the bike and run than these guys were. I also would stay at a motel in the closest town and drive in the morning of the race.

Sooo slow, but I think the course was longer than 1500 meters. Too short, too long. It doesn't matter. It is all about the race.
