So I don't have 3-6hrs A DAY to watch TDF coverage..  So I have recorded on my DVR all stages of the race and then watched them later at night after I'm home from work..  I have a nightly routine..  Watch 10-15 min of pre stage coverage..  fast forward and look for crashes and big breakaways..  I play it for 2-3 min every so often to see where the leaders are and who the players on in breakaways or who is falling behind..  then i watch the last 10k of the race and the podiums..  I did actually stop and watch several of the big climbs this week.. marveling at how easy the pros make it look..

I'm feeling guilty for not waching the race as it unfolds and 'cheating' by FFWDing to the final 10K..

Should I be ashamed of myself???

You're a disgrace to TdF fans everywhere.

Of course I'm just kidding. If that's what your schedule allows you to watch, then by all means, just watch the highlights. For example, in yesterdays stage, you could have tuned in the last 5 minutes and not really missed anythiing.

For me, I need to watch as much as possible to get my fix. I'm an addict, and the only cure is more TdF.

You're a fan and that's great. Just sit back and enjoy what you can.

Exactly what I did, except I skipped the pre race stuff.  I watched as much of the stage if I could and all big climbs, but much of long straightaways and valleys between climbs were FF, looking for breaks or catches.  I was still up til 11, way past bedtime

Not at all - Im on a timezone that means what I am missing by watching all of the stages live is sleep... thats it..

If I was on a timezone where I would be working during the live action Im sure the scenario for me would be completely different...

You are getgting all the good bits with none of the lulls in the action - how excititng! And you are up to date on every stage!! Thats a pretty full on fan!

During the 3 weeks of the tour I'd say 85 percent of the time all tv's are on VS channel and at least 2 are on if at home.  I just can't get enough of those Saab, Tap Out, and Mojito  commericals..........HA

Not at all!  That's what I do the nights I'm really busy.  The coverage is really long and lots of times it's boring.  Do I really need to see someone talking about the expensive Specialized shoes?  Not really.

Actually, I usually stop the fast forward for those spots--I guess I'm something of a gear geek.  But if I had to hear about how Saab takes the perfect blend of whatever & whatzit one more time (actually 3 more times), I think I'd pop an artery.

I think what bothers me about the ones during coverage is that they are pretty much longer commercials.  They aren't just talking about shoes or bikes because they're new, but because they are paid to.

But, they are still way less annoying than all of the Saab commercials.
