[1] 23rd Ann NY Tri/Bi Series #2 - Harriman State Park, August 17, 08. Link: http://www.nytc.org/dbacceptance.cfm?ID=8

[2] SkinnyMan Tri - Skaneateles, NY - August 30, 08. Link: http://skanraces.com/races.html

Just wanted to put the feelers out there to see if anyone else would be running these.

Harriman will be my "inaugural" tri so I'm doing my best to get my mind set for it. I've only been running biathlons since last year - time to jump up to tri's. At the SkinnyMan, I'll be running with my brother and that one will be his first tri. Pretty psyched about tri-ing with my big brother!

One last thing, being that I'm a newbie ... anyone see any problem with me wearing my 2mm shorty wetsuit for the swim? I know there are more tri specific suits out there but this is what I have right now.

Thanks.

I dont' see a problem per se but given that it's not made for swimming and the water at Lake Welch is in the low 70's it may not actually add any benefit.

Be pepared for a tough ride.

Have fun. Harriman is a great venue!

actually the Harriman swim is in Lake Sebago. I did the SBR tri #1 on June 1st (same swim in Lake sebago) and the water temperature then was a warm 72 degrees (its a shallow lake).

I can only guess that the water temp is going to be warmer by August 17th. I am doing the SBR #2 the day before the 23rd Ann NY Tri/Bi Series #2, and I am debating on whether or not to use my wet-suit that day.

Basically you won't need to worry about your suit keeping you warm in the water.

Correct. I realized it later. Sebago/Welch again your right, wetsuit not necessary for warmth. So if it doesn't make you swim faster than it shouldn't be worn.

I'll be doing Escape From the Judge - the OWS at Skaneateles Labor Day Weekend - and am seriously considering doing Skinnyman... but I want to focus on the OWS on Sunday and am worried how Skinnyman (on Saturday) could affect me.  I'll give myself til Friday to decide...

I'm doing Skinnyman and also did it last year.  It is a really fun race and a beautiful course--not too hard.  I always think the lakes around here are cold, but I am a southerner by birth.  The lake is crystal clear, though, not much seaweed, and a very nice swim.

Maybe I'll see you there!

I'll second that. I've done it the last 2 years and its a well run, fun race. The course is pretty nice, although the bike is moderately rolling-hilly and has enough turns that I have felt like I've had a tough time getting into a good rhythm - this could also simply be my excuse for a crummy bike leg! See you there!

I ran the biathlon back in June and the hills, I thought, weren't too bad.

Of course the biathlon that I ran prior to that was further north into Ulster County and that ride was REDICULOUS - it was the Trooper Benefit Biathlon in Hurley, NY, May 4th or 5th! After the race, I drove down the hill that we rode up so that my wife could see it. Her mouth just stayed open - and then my 5-year old son, in the back seat of the truck, said this isn't a road ... it's a ski slope! He's absolutely right!

Tough ride, awesome time, and will be doing it again next year - absolutely!

See you at Harriman! 5 days and counting!!
