Overall Rank = 11/165
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/22
Event warmup:

Short jog to warm up and a little stretching. Did a short swim too, about 75 yards or so.
Swim
  • 09m 58s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall I am ok with the swim. I know I can do a little better. I was defineitely held up a bit by some slower people at the first half of the course, but was able to maintain a decent pace throughout. Sighting was good and I felt like I did a good job staying on line.
What would you do differently?:

not much. maybe start off to the side more and try to fine some clear water earlier.
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

I didn't have my shoes already clipped into the pedals since there was such a short distance to get situated after the mount so that probably cost me a few seconds. I also put on a tri top after the swim which took way too long. Next time I will either go without a top or invest in a one piece trisuit.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear a top.
Bike
  • 38m
  • 15 miles
  • 23.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Took the bike nice and easy. Wanted to just keep an smooth effort and felt good.
What would you do differently?:

In hind sight, I probably could hve gone a little harder, but I am very happy.
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

One of my shoes came undone as i dismounted, but an aide worker grabbed it so that saved me the trouble of turning around anlosing valuable seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Not drop a shoe.
Run
  • 22m 13s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

This was the fist real run I have done since I tore a claf muscle in May. I had no idea if I could run the whole way or not, but I didn't have any pressure or pain so I kept going and to my surprise, the pace was decent.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I am thrilled.
Post race
Warm down:

After just taking it easy for about 15 minutes or so, I did some stretching and kind of walked around for a bit and continued to stretch as needed on and off for an hour or so.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to work on my transitions for sure, which I didn't practice at all because of the calf muscle tear and I didn't want to aggrivate anything. Had i not been injured a while back I would have been able to be in better running shape and should have been able to go a bit faster, but overall I wouldn't ask for anything more.

Event comments:

I think this is a great race and they really do a nice job of getting some very talented atheletes as well as some new triathletes which makes it really fun for everyone. I always will plan to do this race.

Wow, great job Andy! Especially considering the torn calf - ouch. If 7:25/mile run is decent then I'd hate to see a good run! Way to tear it up out there today buddy. 1st in AG and 11th OA! w00t!
