Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:00am. Ate half of a banana and a granola bar. Drank a Red Bull on the car ride there.
Event warmup:

swam about 150 in the lake before we got going.
Swim
  • 11m 8s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Did pretty well on the swim. Took me about 100 yards or so to find a guy to draft off of. Stuck on his toes for the rest of the swim. Only hit a little trouble when I was rounding the first buoy. Got a bit too close to the inside and it got congested.
What would you do differently?:

Take the first turn wider.
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

Decent transition. No problems getting the wetsuit off or the bike shoes on.
Bike
  • 40m
  • 15 miles
  • 22.50 mile/hr
Comments:

Got exactly a 40 minute bike split! Definitely hammered on the bike and flew through that course! I even was fast enough to pass a few people in my wave!

This was my first race on the new bike... more about that later!
What would you do differently?:

Go even faster!
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

Great T2! Got the shoes off while I was still riding in towards transition. Did a flying dismount exactly at the line and sprinted into T2.
Run
  • 27m 38s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Dear J_Cow. You stink at running. Go do more of it.

Ok that being said. I didn't do so hot with the run, as expected. I really need to get out there and work on my running!

Ok so back to the bike: The tri geometry made a world of difference going from the bike to the run! I hopped off the bike and started running and was stunned at how good my legs felt after going that hard on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not suck at running so much.
Post race
Warm down:

Poured some ice water on my head. Drank a bottle of Gatorade Endurance. Had some yummy food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing limited my performance other than my awful running abilities.

Eh it was posted on the log the day I got it... But she still needs a name?

Can't get a real picture so this will have to do for now:
