Comments:

What would you do differently?:

sight better.

Bike
  • 2h 57m 45s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.90 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I was going to have a good bike but I started getting a stomach cramp mile 50. I broke the crdinal rule of trying something new in a race versus training. I went to the tri store and he recomended CARB 1200 then I wouldn't need all the gels. Well I did that and then grabbed a water bottle on the ride of HEED???. I think the combo didn't mix well. That along wiht the sun coming out and starting to beat down. My bike felt sluggish. I have an older bike and am wondering if the bearings are going.
What would you do differently?:

Need new tri-bike. And practice fueling plan along with some salt tablets and work in the heat.
Transition 2
  • 03m 21s
Comments:

I was not feeling right at T2. Stomach was cramped into a fist. I should have sought medical attention at that time. I thought I could breathe it out and drink lots of water. I was wrong.
What would you do differently?:

Researchg the use of salt tablets.
Run
  • 2h 55m 55s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 13m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I had real problems wiht my stomach cramp. It prevented me from getting any kind of pace going. I keep having to walk. My legs felt pretty good considering and heart rate was low.
What would you do differently?:

I under trained on the run as I started late and ran out of time. I am going to train for a marathoin that should speed up run splits. Also I going ot figure out how to use salt tablets and train some in the heat. aqll those factors combined made for a very difficult run/walk.
Post race
Warm down:

got dizzy and laid down for about 30 minutes. I shoul dhave gone to the medical tent.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

mostly cramps and I had to cut training short.

Event comments:

Nice venue for a HIM. Well run and friendly community.
