Pre-race routine:

Got all my gear ready the night before. Had a light breakfast on the way down there, picked up number, cap and got body marked. Put on wetsuit and headed to the yacht club a little after 7:00 AM.
Event warmup:

Very little. Some light swimming right before the start. I never have as much time as I think I'll have.
Swim
  • 15m 55s
  • 780 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was supposed to be .5 miles, but my time was 15.55 and a pace of 31.50 per mile which comes out to about 780 yards.

Good swim, very proud of that one. My second race. Good at finding my way through the crowd, took it easy and remained calm, breathing was good, no problems, very happy with that swim.
What would you do differently?:

More warm-up time in the water. Push the pace a little? Otherwise, couldn't ask for a better swim.
Transition 1
  • 04m 56s
Comments:

The run from the yacht club was around 100 -150 yards I would say. Pretty good surface for running though and then through the grass in the park. I felt great.
What would you do differently?:

Probably took too long in T1, dumped some water on my head, took a gel and drank some water. Glasses got wet and spotty but not too bad.
Bike
  • 30m
  • 9 miles
  • 18.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt really good on the bike. Some course knowledge would have helped. It was beneficial to at least drive it on Friday. Could have probably. Passing was no problem, did pretty good on the one uphill section before Hacienda. Tried to spin out and stretch a little a mile or so from transition.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little harder? Should have taken on a little more fluid.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

T2 couldn't have been much better considering I ran in my shoes. Didn't wear socks so that saved some time.
What would you do differently?:

N/A
Run
  • 16m 14s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran about a fast as I could go without blowing up. Had a little extra left for the final sprint.
What would you do differently?:

Run more in training, I got passed by a few people.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking and stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wanted to take it easy and pace myself on the swim and go harder on the bike.

Event comments:

Good race, fun low-key atmosphere. Everyone had a great time, gorgeous race course, good traffic control by police and volunteers. Small scale fun race.

Weather was great and probably helped my time a lot.

I figured I would get it up since I tend to forget the details after a day or two. That was such a fun race! Next, I will probably do Pacific Grove Sprint or Treasure Island Sprint. Still on the fence about the Marin Tri (Oly) but that looks like fun and I like China Camp.

Abbie, I think I saw you. You have a green Guru right? You were talking to some people and then you were gone before I could make it over there. Tiburon is a beautiful place, I need to hang out there more often. What a great race course.

Yep green Guru, that's me!  I had to leave pretty quick, my hubby and I were going to watch the drag races up at Infineon.

Great race, especially that swim! You need to teach me to speed it up.

You're too kind. Your name sounds familiar do I know you from somewhere? Also, I've read your race reports, maybe some day I'll be able to swim a mile in 22 minutes.
