Springfield Tri Fest.
Sunny
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 26/217
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/15
Pre-race routine:

Kind of a rush to get things done. I did not have my normal pre-race breakfast and I panicked because of it. I ended up eating a couple of granola bars from a gas station, a bottle of water and some gel.
Event warmup:

Stretched... I was too busy socializing to get in a good warm up.
Swim
  • 08m 34s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Kind of a slow swim for me... Did not have a watch so I was unsure of how I was pacing myself. I slowed down at the turn around. Came into the finishing chute and there were a lot of people just waiting to be plucked out of the water. I ended up just pushing through.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed a little harder on the swim. Maybe wore a watch that worked.
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Slow T1, my aero helmet took a little longer to get on than I expected. Grabbed a gel and stuck it in my pants.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more with the aero helmet and shoes in the pedals.
Bike
  • 34m 31s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.86 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike felt great. Peyton was doing great. I can’t complain! I wish I were a tad bit faster but what can you do?
What would you do differently?:

I would have tried to push a little bit harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

The tongue of my shoes went down in the shoe, I had to fix that. I then decided to take a gel which I am not sure how this happened but blew up in my face and I had little bits of it all through out the run. I high tailed it out after wasting too much time.
What would you do differently?:

Taken the gel on the bike.
Run
  • 21m 36s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, I had that "slushy feeling" in my stomach like I had too much to drink. I slowed down at the water stations to take on more water for some reason. I hammered it home. I was really excited about my run, until I just figured out that it was the 38th fastest... Oh well beats last year!

I also had some issues breathing. I am not sure if it was allergies or a cold but I felt like I could not get enough air.
What would you do differently?:

Tried to give at least 15% more.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran to my car and slowed my HR down then went to call friends that I was done.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Allergies?

Event comments:

I love this Race. Bill does a great job running it and I will be back again, next year!

Good job! It was very humid on the run portion, plus the pollen count was pretty high, making for some difficult breathing.

Nice job!  I wouldn't worry too much about the run placing... you can't control who is out there any given day.  Well done!

yeah, congrats on the race.  glad to hear that you didn't get a flat like last year.  although, is it true that you lost a bet with a girl and now have to wash her car?   i don't know, but i think that's the rumor going around.  reason # 287 why you shouldn't go making bets with competitive females.   maybe you should have done less socializing and a little more warm-up, ehh?   do i smell a rematch next year or is that just the goo on your face?
