Sunny
Total Time = 1h 33m
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-40
Age Group Rank = 6/24
Pre-race routine:

PBJ
Event warmup:

ran short way, short swim up to beach finish
Swim
  • 20m 13s
  • 820 meters
  • 02m 28s / 100 meters
Comments:

Had trouble settling down first 100 meters but kept up. Drafted off some until 2nd turn buoy, then goggles fogged and was unable to see. Kept going wide to the right-probably swam more than 750 meters. Once guys behind began swimming over me I lost all rhythm and just fought to finish. Did well with one sided breathing around buoys. Did do some one sided breathing on way in to speed up.
What would you do differently?:

Learn heads up swimming to continue rhythm when being bumped around. Will spend alot of time increasing race pace in pool while not sacrificing efficiency.
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

good transition
What would you do differently?:

put shoes on more smoothly, forget wiping feet
Bike
  • 43m 59s
  • 15 miles
  • 20.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Not bad for first tri with hills. Beat Missy, other top age group, AND Karen. Didn't however go fast enough to make up all the time lost on swim.
What would you do differently?:

Will spend some time riding route itself next year in preparation for tri.
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Lost 20 sec going back to take helmet off.
What would you do differently?:

need to practice transitions over and over
Run
  • 25m 58s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Hills are hard but I probably did my best. Did not seem as hard to get going as White Lake.
What would you do differently?:

Going to bring my race pace up and break 23 min 5k at Wilmington
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim and run pace

Event comments:

did not do as well as I hoped, especially in swim.
