Concept bike that looks cool as hell but probably doesn't work worth a damn.

Looks very cool. I doubt it could be used for racing, but would probably work for a cruiser. My guess is that in order to get enough stiffness for the wheels, they would have to be made very heavy.

Is the center of the wheels solid? I do not see how the front of the bike does not sit on the outside of the tire?

No, the center is completely open.

If you happened to scoot back on the seat, would you land on the wheel?

Looks that way, but isn't that the case for every Bike?

That bike has nothing below the seat to catch you. The seat is just floating in mid-air! I think it would be a lot easier to fall off that bike. I know I probably would

I checked into it a bit... looks real neat. I wanted to see some specs and found that it isn't functional, just a sculpture of sorts. Check out this link for more info:

Without center axles, how do the wheels work?  I can only think of a slotted rim with bearing'ed guides - but that would be too weak.  And if there's a top-wheel guide on the front fork - that would wear out the front tire and create too much friction to be functional.  As for stability and rigidity of the weels, I can't see it.  There would be way too much flex and too much play in the front that would compromise handling.  No way carbon fiber.  They would have to be heavy Titanium to exist with no spokes and center hub.

I can see the frame, especially the BB with integrated drivetrain, maybe even shaft-drive.  But that wheelset doesn't even look functional and this seems to be nothing more than an artist's CAD mock-up.

I would stop racing and cheer on anybody that pulled that off during an event.

Wow...it's not much to look at either.

Hmmm, goes against my engineering instinct.  The problem I see is transferring the load of the rider though a tangent point on the wheel instead of the center of rotation where is is then transferred though several spokes to the ground.

I dunno....wonder if it was 'designed' by an artist or an engineer?

Aside from what has already been pointed out. There is no BB and the crank appears to rotate in the circle and spin. I think the only way that part of the desing could work is if the crank was stationary and the base of it moved around the circle.

I would think the wheels work fine under normal circumstances, but if an impact (pothole or stone) occurred, the wheels would buckle or deform in some other way and the rider would lose complete control.
