Total Time = 1h 34m 27s
Overall Rank = 141/211
Age Group = 50-59
Age Group Rank = 14/20
Pre-race routine:

Got up early as usual and gathered everything for my race. It was a 2 hour drive to get there but with the race not starting until 3:00 pm I had lots of time at home to prepare. Had oatmeal and juice for breakfast. Grabbed an egg salad sandwich and banana for lunch. Good easy drive up arrived in lots of time. Registered, got stuff set up and then wandered around the area to see where the start was and the entrance and exits were to the tranistions areas
Event warmup:

Not much. Talekd to a few of the other racers.
Swim
  • 18m 41s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 29s / 100 meters
Comments:

Overall a better result than I thought I was having. A pleasant surprise.
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice siting more. I had to stop swimming several time to site and veered a little off course on the final leg.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Nothing. Came out of the water in good shape. Not to tired ran inot transtions area. Wetsuit didn't come off on first try but I wasn;t too long in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Have a beautiful young lady in the transition area to yank off my wetsuit.
Bike
  • 44m 3s
  • 20 kms
  • 27.24 km/hr
Comments:

The first half I had trouble getting a good rythym going. My legs felt heavy. Had difficulty with the one larger hill. Had to walk part way.
What would you do differently?:

Train better for the event. This was my first sprint distance so I guess I didn't know what to expect exactly. I need to work with some weights to build up my legs and train harder when I am on the bike
Transition 2
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

Very good transtion. Wear the same shoes for biking and running only had to rack the bike and throw off the helmet.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 29m 35s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 55s  min/km
Comments:

Didn't feel good at all. I could'nt get my legs to loosen up. I tried to force my stride longer to loosen them but after a short disatance I found myself back into the same stride. Did loosen up toward the last KM. Followed a young lady most of the way around as a pacer and then cought up in the last 500 meters.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike. Train more at running. I had changed plans after my last race and I don't think I got enough time in running.
Post race
Warm down:

drank some water and lay on the grass for a few minutes. Walked over to transition. Took m,y time loading up gear and walking to truck to reload. Walked inside to get food and times.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I thnk overall I was not ready for the full distance. My legs were tired and I need to get better at both ride and run.

Event comments:

Subaru puts on a good and well organized event. All went somothly. woudl hav been nice if we could have started earlier. I find myself better in the mornings.

damn Canadians, how can I judge your times when they are all in metric units?!!! No seriously, great race.  Especially on that swim. That must have been scary in high wind and waves!!  Now we have to get you into some biking shoes and clipless pedals.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!

HAHA I thought the same thing about the distances, had to put them in a calculator...

Great job man, yeah I agree, having a beautiful young lady in transition to help would always be a good motivator, RD's should take noticeLaughing
