Total Time = 2h 53m 57s
Overall Rank = F - 21/52
Age Group = 30 - 39
Age Group Rank = 7/19
Pre-race routine:

Get up without waking anyone else, eat a PB & J sand.
Event warmup:

Some dynamic warm ups, short swim.
Swim
  • 29m 10s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 56s / 100 meters
Comments:

Overall ranks are actually the female rankings... there are no results for overall.
This was a good swim for me, I had no difficulties finding my own space. I did have some navigational problems, but not bad.
The water was warmer than the air, so I was glad to get in!

Transition 1
  • 03m 17s
Comments:

Yikes, I could not get my wetsuit off! It was a little annoying. The transition run was LONG. They had carpet laid down over gravel, but it was still pretty hard on the feet.
What would you do differently?:

More body glide? Sit down? I don't know.... I don't usually have a problem with my wetsuit.
Bike
  • 1h 29m 51s
  • 40 kms
  • 26.71 km/hr
Comments:

This was TOUGH! I was standing on almost all hills and wasn't sure how to pace myself. I could have gone harder on the few flats there were (which weren't really flats!), but I was afraid I'd run out of steam. I passed alot of people, but got lapped by the lead men.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more hills! This is a different course from anything I have every done. I wasn't prepared, I most definitely do not know how to ride hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This was a little rough. My legs were so tired I could barely lift my leg over the seat of my bike.
I felt a little disoriented here.
Run
  • 54m 55s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 29s  min/km
Comments:

And once again, my run time pulls me down.. sigh...
I actually felt really good about this run. Going out I thought, this will be miserable, my legs are so tired. But I did what I had planned. Found a pace I could live with and gradually started pushing it. The first 5 km were rough, but the last 5 km were faster and felt pretty good. HR was above 162 at 5 km.
I took my fuel belt on this run which really helped. I didn't have to break my groove to drink and I can't drink out of a paper cup anyways.
Had to pee, but couldn't... rainbowtrout would have caught me :) (not to mention the bear!)
What would you do differently?:

Not completely freeze my water bottle! It never completely unthawed and caused my fuel belt to keep twisting around. It drove my crazy!
Post race
Warm down:

Kids were snaky, so just loaded up and went for lunch. Was actually feeling a little sickly, but was better after lunch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not knowing how hard I could push on the bike.

Event comments:

This was a great race, just really tough! I originally thought I wouldn't do it again, but I'm already changing my mind!

Congratulations on finishing this tough race... I was volunteering in T1... were you the one who asked for help with your suit?? I aided one lady with pulling off her sleeve - not sure if it was you!

Seriously hard core! I decided to volunteer instead of race because 1- the course was totally daunting and 2- I am pregnant so my DH is nervous about me doing... anything.

Thanks for the race report!! Good luck with your upcoming races!

Thanks!  Nope, that wasn't me in T1.  I couldn't get mine off my ankles, it was a little annoying!

Thanks for volunteering and congrats on the baby!

Wow, what an amazing backdrop for a race! Looks like you did really well in this race, sucks about the wetsuit sticking, but seems to always happen at the worst time. Good race!

Great Race Report.

I can see where you were frustrated. You had some goals and didn't achieve them...but remember this was one tough course...you did really well, with no qualifications.

Wet suit issues...maybe glide, but you said it has never happened before? Kinda strange.

The feeling sick afterwards, maybe try chips...I've found it's a lack of salt.

Thanks for sharing this, you worked hard to excel in this race and you did - keep in mind all the grief you have had over the past months - and then look at your results again!

Nice pix too...this is like Christmas!
