Midwest Meltdown Update?

Haven't heard anything - actually just checked the website earlier today becuase I want to register my relay team!

Heads up to all doing this one, you might want to look for a new race that weekend. It sounds like the 2008 Meltdown is going to be cancelled. There should be an announcement this week.

That is what I thought. I was getting a run around from Bill Marshall for three weeks now. Somebody needs to step up and take over the races from these KLM clowns. This is a second race lost in this area this season.

We have been working tirelessly for you to find a new venue for the 2008 Meltdown and have been communicating our efforts to you via email for the past two months. It is with regret and frustration that I inform you we will not be able to hold the 2008 Midwest Meltdown Triathlon. With budget cuts by Wyandotte County it is too late in the season for us to properly secure a location that is safe and provides a challenge for our athletes. It is our intention to put on events that exceed your expectations. When we run up against a challenge, we’ll exhaust every possible solution to keep the event in the water, on the road and on the trail. We are pleased to announce the City of Paola will host the 2009 Midwest Meltdown Triathlon on September 6th at Lake Miola.
