Champion 6046 New York, NY | Subject: Accenture Chicago Triathlon - Olympic Distance ok the race is the 24th not the 23rd but anyway - 2 weeks away, this will be my first Olympic distance and well, I am skeeeered.
My goal is just to finish. Has to be. I just have to remember that when I am out there - just keep swimming, don't bike too hard, just keep running (ok more like a shuffle)
anyone else at all nervous? I get to Chicago Thursday the 21st and am staying right at the Hilton - anyone interested in getting together? riding the course? getting dinner?

Sorry to inform you of this. You can't ride the course. It is Lake Shore Drive. They partially close it off for the race. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Accenture Chicago Triathlon - Olympic Distance I love the chicago triathlon bike course because you have only really 4 areas you have to turn though one is pretty tricky but otherwise you can go pretty much all out. It really is a site with 4,000 people out there its very important to remember where you are parked. Hey you met me. Remember if I can do it anyone can do it. Today I just did my 2nd oly tri and I was so undertrained for it, it was not even funny. I am sure you will do great. If you want to met up for dinner or even to walk around the expo let me know. I would even be willing to take the day off on friday to make sure I can make it out. I been planning to go out to the expo sometime anyway. |

Champion 15211 Southern Chicago Suburbs, IL | Subject: RE: Accenture Chicago Triathlon - Olympic Distance I'm pretty pumped about this one. My first Oly. I'm not shooting for any specific time, just to finish and to do it as well as I can. I learned, last year, that trying to do this race with a specific time in mind is almost impossible. First, the run from the swim to the bike is laughingly long. Second, there are just SO many people in it, to me, it is a race for fun, not for placing. I'll be doing that in Pleasant Prairie this weekend. Woot! |

Pro 4313 McKinney, TX | Subject: RE: Accenture Chicago Triathlon - Olympic Distance I'm coming from Dallas to do this thing. This is also my first OLY. I'm shooting for 3 hours but the real goal is to finish and enjoy the beautiful city of Chicago. Hopefully I'm either fast enough (or slow enough) to get some additionall scenery to pace off of. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Accenture Chicago Triathlon - Olympic Distance thing about the Chicago tri is you have to go and do your tranistion stuff and then you are free until your wave. Last year I think I had 3 hours to kill. Your not allowed in transition once the race starts I think transition closes at 5:30 am. Sucks when your wave goes off at 8:30 Edited by chirunner134 2008-08-11 11:25 AM |

I think they were refreshing numbers Sunday morning last year. I would suggest to get a Sharpee and just mark yourself. Hey, go mark yourself! LOL! I have done this race the last two years and it is incredible. I hope you have a great time! Swimming in Lake Michigan is really cool, the water is crystal clear and you can see the guns on the bottom. The bike is VERY scenic. Watch out for the pot holes. I don't know what shape LSD is in this year, but last year was a bit scary in spots. The run is fantastic. You go through the museum campus along the lake front. The food at the end is awesome. I am talking real food, chicken, spagatti, garlic bread, etc. The guest hotel is one of the best in Chicago. The expo is HUGE, bring a lot of money. There are triathletes everywhere. I like hanging out at the front door of the hotel drooling over all the bikes. |

So much carbon and aluminum and ruber, etc. You will likely never see that many bikes in one place anywhere else at one time. |

Champion 34263 Chicago | Subject: RE: Accenture Chicago Triathlon - Olympic Distance Doc, I'm not doing the race and am bailing out of town on Saturday morning early but if you want to grab dinner and/or drinks on Thursday or Friday let me know. I'll get you my phone number and we can kick it freestyle. My condo is only a couple blocks from the hotel so you'll be in my stompin' grounds, and I know some decent restaurants and bars in the area. I know you're the clubbin' type so if you want to hit up the hip-hop-happenin' places I'm sure we could find someplace for ya. |
