Pre-race routine:

Nothing Special.
Swim
  • 06m 29s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Grabbed the front most spot in the water and took off like a rocket from the start. I managed to grab the lead and dropped a few swimmers off fairly quickly. Unfortunately I rounded the first buoy and couldn't see the second buoy so I swam to where I thought it was and ended up goign way off course to a dock. I looked around and a kayaker helped me find the right way. I still had the lead though and I just finished the swim with a strong moderate stroke.
What would you do differently?:

Find the buoy.
Transition 1
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Pretty good transition. I beat the beginner 2nd place by 40 seconds on this and that's the main reason I was able to win. Didn't wear a shirt which was a great idea.
Bike
  • 17m 33s
  • 6 miles
  • 20.51 mile/hr
Comments:

Started off spinning and after about a minute shifted and started going for it. Was hoping for around 20 MPH and made it.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Dismounted about 30 feet too soon. Need to pay more attention next time.
Run
  • 16m 49s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

I was really tired already but I had the lead so I decided to just push it as hard as I could. I was extremely tired and had a huge sideache but I ignored it. I know I have a terrible run so I was just trying to hang on. At the 1 mile turn around I saw I still had a good 45 second lead so I just kept it up and tried to hold on. At about the 1.5 mile marker I saw second place gaining on me hard. I tried to kick it up another notch and kept pushing. Rounding the last turn coming into the finishing area, my cousin screamed that he was right behind me so I turned on everything I had left and managed to hold him off. It was awesome. Then I puked before they could get my timing chip off. Overall I won the beginner division which I was very proud of and took 19th which is pretty good for me.
