Anyone doing the Sanford & Sun this weekend?  It looks like the bike course is the same, but the run course is completely different.  Were there problems last year on the rail trail?

I am doing it (sprint) also. They redid the park I guess and they made an exit out just for them. The run was busy with the out and back last year but was not horrible.

I did this race last year as well & didn't see any issues on the run, I was just curious why they completely changed the run around.  I remember having to dodge some bike (non-race) traffic on the run, but nothing too bad.

Have you been to the park since it's been redone?  I stopped by about a month ago (parents live on the lake) and it looks great.  It should be a good time.

I'm doing the sprint and pumped.  It will be my 2nd tri and cant wait.  I live just 15 min from the lake and swim there a few times a week.  They made a new exit out of the back of the park (within the last few months) and it connects to a road out back that curves down back by irish rd.  Not sure that this is the exact route but it looks promising.  My father will also be there.... His 1st tri.  So if you see the short guy in a red top with black shorts on an OLD red roadie dont be afraid to say hi

Howdy all,

I'll be there, it's going to be my first tri (sprint). Where will packet pick up be? I imagine right in the park on Friday. Do you also have to register or check in on Saturday if you pick up your packet on Friday. Thanks in advance.

Andy,

PS - I'll be in BT Tri shorts with a yellow bike jersey riding an old Bianchi. Don't be a stranger now.

More than likely on saturday you will have to get body marked and pick up your timing chip.  They usually dont give those out early, at least they haven't their past events.

I'll be wearing my Zoot Gu uniform, i'm under 5' tall, blond and have a felt B2.  Hope to run into everyone

I'd be up for meeting up, but I have not been there before and have no idea where to meet. If you see me in the BT Shorts, Yellow Jersey, and a blue Bianchi Eros. I'm pretty friendly so stop by and say hi.

Also I need some info for spectators. My parents and girlfriend are coming and I need to know what time they should show up to watch and deal with parking and to get a good spectator spot. Also how long will the parking lot be closed for? From my understanding I won't be able to leave until entire event is over? Thanks in advance.

I'll be in a blue UA top, black shorts and riding a blue Giant.

With the changes to the park, I'm not sure where they're going to be putting the transition area.  I guess we'll see tomorrow at packet pick up.

I'll be wearing a dark grey t-shirt with a light grey skull on it and a pair of grey warm ups before. Probably be around a yellow BOB jogger. I have a p2c and my wife has a teal trek e7.
I am Jason and she is TJ.

I went down today and got my packet ect.  i did the swim and ohh man... the lake mowers went back out but just incase if you move even a little out side of a direct line from one marker to the next you get into weeds up to the surface and you can barley move.  at one point i was crawling over them and couldn't even swim.  So just try and stay close to the inside and we should be fine.

see you all out there (# 106)

Gl all, Troy

Congrats on the OLY Shortyy!

That swim looked seriously LONG!!! I didn't connect with any BT'rs (Bummer) but my girlfriend whose bday we were celebrating had a great time and are wanting to do another relay next year! Step by step we lure them in!!!

We stayed at the sponsered hotel and met quite a few first timers in the hot tub the night before the race! Everyone has a great story about what leads them to Triathlon!

This is my last race this summer and I am happy that I had a PR 5k run to finish out the season! I am not a good runner, so this makes me very happy!

I would really like to do the sprint next year...loved the venue...but I think my girlfriends just might be up for the oly relay!

That swim was full of weeds. Good thing nobody got pulled under. The race was fun and yes that was me getting 2nd in the 25-30 age group(1st time placing). I had a great time racing in this beautiful venue. TJ did her first race and had a great time. We are waiting to see the splits so we can see how fast she really rocked out! Leah great job finishing your first oly!

Yay...I got my first tri under my belt.

It was nice to meet you to Shorty and thanks for the cheering. It really helped me to finish strong to hear someone say "Go BT!". Congratulations of completing the Oly distance, that swim looked daunting!

It was a great race and a beautiful venue, I hope to race it for many years to come. The swim went well, bike went well, but I hate running. I plan to spend all fall working on that.

It was an amazing experience and it seemed like it went by too fast. 1:25:34 was my finish time. So i beat my goal of an 1:30:00, but my friend Jon (the marathoner) won our age group our first time out!

Hopefully I'll meet more of you at future meets. Thanks.

I was out there yesterday for the sprint and had a great time and somehow a great race. I have to give credit to 3D and Mid-Michigan Multisport for a very well run event. With the exception of eating weeds for the whole swim there were no other issues as far as I was concerned. I will do this very fast race in the future.

Kudude - I saw you out there on the run and said something to the effect of "Lets go BT" but didn't find you after.

I also didn't get a chace to see anyone but had a great race.  got done in 1:15 but waiting on splits to get my RR up.  the way in on the bike was horrible though.  felt like i was towing bricks behind me, come to find out when we got home my rear tire had shifted and was rubbing on the lower frame rail for most of the race Surprised.  So other than that it was great.  Yes Mid MI MS did a great job and loved the support from the police and others.

Ahh the weeds.  I got in the night before so i kinda knew what to expect but it was still fun to claw and pull my way to the 1st ballon.

Glad everyone had a good event and cant wait to do it again next year.

I wonder if anyone got to see me doing the pre-leg of the triathlon right before the meeting on the beach.  My wife & I were racked right next to each other and I was topping off the tires.  The pump wouldn't let go of the stem on my wife's rear tire, suddenly there was a pop followed by the whoosh as the entire stem popped off the tube.

Understandably, my wife starts to freak out as they just announced the transition would be closed in 5 min, and for everyone to get down to the beach.  Also, my parents & her parents just walked up by us outside the transition, so the MIL starts to freak out as well.  The task was to keep the wife & MIL from completely melting down, while changing out a rear tube in the least amount of time possible.  I was rather impressed with my split on that event.  I'd say the quality of my change was pretty decent as well since my wife pulled off 2nd in her AG.

Other than that, the weeds sucked, the bike was great & I liked the run leg a lot better than dealing with the rail trail.  Oh, and I shaved 6 minutes off of last years time !

Did anyone else think the run for the sprint was a bit short? I will of course pretend it wasn't and I am just getting faster. Must be the weekly Poto running right?

The thought of the run being short went through my mind also but what they heck ohh well.  For the sake of it though did any one get a gps on the run?

Thanks Troy
