Overcast
Total Time = 5h 42m 49s
Overall Rank = 453/1100
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 23/68
Pre-race routine:

I woke up around 4am, ate some cereal and a banana, grabbed some coffee with Joe and loaded up to leave with my buddy at 4:30am.
Event warmup:

Only wanted a short swim warm-up in order to conserve, so I did about 100 meters and stretched.
Swim
  • 49m 41s
  • 1931 meters
  • 02m 34s / 100 meters
Comments:

My only goal was to get out of the water at some point. I didn't care when, just GET ME OUT!! LOL. I had no expectations since I haven't been swimming in the last month or so, so considering that minor detail I was very happy with my performance. I just ducked my head and swam until it was time to get out! OOOOHHH, except I had to PEE SOOOO BAD! HA! I tried over and over just to pee while I was swimming but I had some major mental blockage about it. My body just wouldn't "let it go", so I stopped about 3 times to sit up and try and pee. I was FINALLY able to but even at that, it wasn't all the way. WTF?! Too funny...
What would you do differently?:

LEARN TO PEE WHILE SWIMMING!! Then again, had I actually been swim training maybe I could've practiced :)
Transition 1
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

Dude, I took my merry ol' time. I had to finish peeing, slap on about a 1/2 gallon of chamois cream, dry my feet, bandaid my blisters and THEN head out. Who cares?!
What would you do differently?:

If I were racing then I would've gone faster.
Bike
  • 2h 43m 51s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.51 mile/hr
Comments:

HAHAHAHA!! Wow... I absolutely loved this ride and not just because I felt good. It was pretty, it was fun, it was fast and I passed every chick I could find - even the ripped ones in all their gear (had to smile at those ones). The second lap was a bit harder/slower but that was TOTALLY expected since I haven't done any long rides in a while. Either way, it was AWESOME! Well, all was well except that I HAD TO PEE!!! CRAP! And no, no I can't pee on the bike either. But man I'll tell ya - I sure tried and if I were able to work through my mental blockage I would have!
What would you do differently?:

Gotten in some more consistent and long bike rides, but I really can't complain about anything.
Transition 2
  • 05m 11s
Comments:

Ha, don't laugh. I had to pee *AGAIN*, check my blisters, re-apply sunscreen, find my hat and rest my legs for a second. They were on FIRE! Oh, and I called Joe to tell him I was about to "go for a little run", LOL
What would you do differently?:

Move it, baby!
Run
  • 2h 00m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Couldn't have been ANY better! My training buddy caught up to me at the very beginning of this and we ended up running the whole thing together, which was F*ING COOL!!! At first I was nervous when he showed up and wanted to run with me because he always pushes me to the point where I can't breathe and he's just chatting away (bastard!), but he really DID want to run with me and was okay with the pace we were doing (which was STILL to the point where I was pinned and he was barely breathing). I panicked thinking there was NO WAY I'd be able to hold it, but one by one we knocked out those miles together. Our thing was to walk every aid station and hydrate, cool off and take a quick stretch if we needed to. There were about 11 aid stations so it was a great motivator to just run to the next one, take a break and then run to the next one. Worked out GREAT!! We were both hurtin' pretty bad by the end of it but it was the COOLEST feeling when we crossed that finish line together!!
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely Nothing :)
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, hydrated a little, stretched a little, got a massage and drank some beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training

Event comments:

This was an amazing experience for me for so many reasons. I may be done with triathlon for a while so this was an EPIC way to say goodbye for now :)

Dude that's insane! I didn't pee once during the whole race.  I had to during the run, but I just kinda blocked it out. You kicked some on that race! But from now on I'm gonna refer to you as that "Pee Chick".

Fantastic race! I was also thinking to myself while reading this, "I didn't even think about peeing the entire race...". And I was drinking a ton.

Great job overall, and I'm sure you reaped the comfort benefit if not the time benefit from extra time in transition.

Wow! You rocked it considering your "lack of training." Congratulations doll! You did AWESOME! I'm with you, I don't htink I could ever learn to pee on the bike, or swimming if I'm wearing a wetsuit.

It's all about the pee in here?!   Oh and you actually used your cell in T2?!  Ahem...

Very cool race and RR. It's nice to see that you had fun AND kicked some serious butt!

PS: I have a blockage too! (plus I wouldn't pee on that beautiful bike!)

You.  Freakin.  Rock.  Awesome job!  I'm NOT at all surprised, but I was so excited for you when I saw your results - what a way to enter the HIM distance!  I just knew you were going to kick some @ss AND have a great time in the process.  (FWIW, I can't pee while swimming either, and I definitely wouldn't even WANT to do it on the bike, time-saving or not, unless things got desperate!)

Dude. If you had knocked about 7 minutes off those transitions, you probably would have won or something. Hee hee!!!

What's this business about saying goodbye to triathlon??

Why would you say goodbye to triathlons, you kick a$$.  You need to learn to pee on the bike and in the wetsuit, but otherwise you're killing it.

Great race and description with all the pee talk and whatnot. I think you should get some serious style points for casual transitions and making sure your run split was exactly 2:00. Great bike split. Sorry to hear you may not be racing tris for a while. Come back soon!
