Total Time = 1h 42m
Overall Rank = 329/673
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 16/35
Pre-race routine:

Woke up and had a bowl of cereal. Followed Jeff to the race. My wife and mom tagged along.
Event warmup:

None. Except stretching out. They were anal about swimming after the race started...I couldn't warm up then...it would have been 40+ minutes until I went.
Swim
  • 10m 27s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

I don't like that the swim has such a long run before the timing chip is clocked. I know I don't swim 2min 100's no matter how bad a chop, current or distance! I don't like this portion of this event
What would you do differently?:

Warm up before hand...
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transitions were built into times. I don't like this at all. I was a little winded after running up the sand and into the T1. I also had to slow down behind two different guys because we had to be "single file"
Bike
  • 1h 02m 50s
  • 18.64 miles
  • 17.80 mile/hr
Comments:

This bike was fine, just wish they wouldn't tell you that it is flat and fast when it isn't. Also, my time includes transition time. So I probably avg around 19-20mph.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again, built into the bike.
Run
  • 29m 33s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a tight and painful left quad muscle. It bothered the heck out of me. I had to walk for 45 seconds as I massaged it. The bike really took a lot out of my legs and it wasn't that long of a bike!
What would you do differently?:

Stretch out more during the warm up process. Keep my quads loose.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and drank some fluids.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure.

Event comments:

I won't be doing this race again. Even though it is cheap, I still would like to have accurate timing and transition timing. that is all.

It was great meeting you Saturday. I'm with you, would have liked T1 and T2 times. The wave starts took forever (especially for us in the back) would have preferred to go earlier or let us warm up until our wave. Got about waist deep and got grief about being in the water. So much for that.

See you at the LA tri!
