Subject: My Mid-Life Crisis...

It has been said that there are few things in life that evoke a strong emotional response upon first sight and this has been true, at least for me.

I might suggest that one of the overwhelming needs that tend to assert itself during the mid-life crisis is the desire to recapture, just once more, that feeling of "Love at First Sight" and the euphoria that goes with it.

Some guys sit on the show room floor sipping cappuccino listening to someone gabbing in their ear in a contrived italian accent slobering over the latest Farrari on the showroom floor, while others lust of the rumble of their spine as they cruise down the road on a loud and fast Motorcycle.

In my case, I figured mine would manifest itself behind the wheel of the 550C in faded Levis and a white T-Shirt or possibly on board a Beneteau Oceanis 46 on a blue water cruise to the South Pacific.

What possibly could be my last hurrah came at a point when I would have least expected it. I went in for the fitting of my new bike yesterday and athough I have seen tons of pictures of this bike, none do it proper justice. You must sit in the shadow of this thing to truely appreciate it.

I might still get that shot at an around the world cruise or to have a Grey Spyder with Red Interior parked in my garage, but for now anyway, this is the object of my affection:

This is not Bike Porn in the traditional sense because it is still a stock bike. I will save the Porn thread for when I have it decked out for Long Course Racing with Zipp Wheels, an XWing Hydration Rack and a slick new helmet with matching paint scheme.

I do have to say that Cervelo has made some very nice upgrades to the DuraAce build kit recently. The Funda T3 Fork (Handed down from the P3C build Kit) and the Shimano RS10 Wheelset in particular address any lingering concerns or complaints.

I'm absolutely with you on this bike: pictures do not do it justice. I recently picked up a P2SL Ultegra, and I do love my shiny new sunshine-yellow bike. However, when I go to my bike shop for this or that, I find myself spending at least a little time staring at a bike exactly like this one. I'm sure the guys there see it, and it might be unseemly, but I can't seem to help myself. I hope this model, or one quite like it, stays around long enough for me to pick one up in a few years when I'm a more accomplished cyclist and can "justify" it.

Yow.

Ahhh. The beauty of a P2C! Enjoy many wonderful hours together. I am jealous of that fork. Maybe one day I will have an engine that can justify replacing my current Wolf TT fork. Can't wait to see the x-rated version of this bike

I completely know it's Colbert in the portrait above the couch. I just know it.

Great ride, marginal couch, go fast.

bryancd - 2008-08-14 4:33 PM  And it make it official.....your seat is too high.

I can't believe it took the better part of the day for someone to say that.

I figure the funky couch pattern had them distracted.

Oh, and the rug does definitely tie the room together
