Hey just wondering who on this form is doing the Calgary 70.3 race next year?

I have signed up but they do not have a confirmation list posted so I am wondering....

The swim in Ghost lake is going to be COLD but I love the point to point aspect of this race I do like loops but this should be fun.

So who is in?

Roy

Wish I could but coming off an injury prone year - HIGHLY unlikely. Wish you all well - maybe see you on course as a volunteer.

For those of you not familiar with the course - make sure you include some hill training on your bike.

Wow, it's been a long time since I was here!

Strongly considering signing up for the 70.3 this year. I am hearing rumblings of a course change, specifically the site of the swim due to Ghost Lake's temperature, anyone have any sources?

I am registered as well. Will be my first HIM. Looking forward to it. Just hope the water is not to bad. I guess it will be motivation to spend less time in the water.

I am sure that water will be just as cold as Arbour lake is for the triathlon there. It was cold last year. I remeber one guy tried to do it with out a wet suit and I think he nly made it to the first bouy. wet suit will be a must for Calgary HIM. Maybe even a touque.

Crapper that was cold. But this is later on in August. Arbour lake was what, June, that is hardly summer here. I am definitly hoping for warmer come August. I know Ghost is a bit out west, but not too too much. I don't get out there much but I did go for a ride out there, actually August 2, last year. I should have dipped my toe in the water.....and......it didn't LOOK cold. Ha.

I think Arbour Lake.....the Friday before it was what, 14C, a little warmer on race day, although I cannot remember for sure.

Tomboy,
I think the 20 week HIM training plan here on BT is free. Check it out. I followed it very losely last year and though it was ok. If you join as a silver member, there is also a 16 week plan. Get lots of base in over the winter and then give it a go. There also alot of other races in the Calgary area that you can use to get ready throughout the summer.

Do you live in or near Calgary? If you do... once the snow melts and it warms up, start riding the bike course. It is on some nice quiet roads and is alot of fun.

Did anyone that is registered for 2010 get a surprise $59.95 US charge on their visa from Active.com?

I was just looking over my statement and came across a charge from Thursday. I have never used them for anything other than registering for Calgary 70.3 and was wondering if anyone else had a similar charge? I will of course contact them on Monday, but they are closed today.

I'm in already and did the bike last week. Not nearly enough biking this year, so I'm not expecting much. :P

If the wind is out of the E or SE we're screwed.
