Pre-race routine:

Not much of a routine since the race took place at night. Carried on with my normal Saturday stuff, left home at 3:30 PM and got to the race site at 4:45 PM. Handed in my pledges, got my timing chip and blinker and went to relax for a bit before heading to the bag check at about 5:30 PM. Good thing I did it then because they had to postpone the race by 15 minutes because of the looooooong line for the bag check and port-a-potties.
Event warmup:

Walked around the site, stretched, relaxed and kept myself hydrated as it was sunny and warm out there.

Comments:

Personal best on a longer distance run. I divided the race in 3 x 5 km, the objective was to start slow, pick up the pace a little on the 2nd 5 km and go hard on the last 5. I also decided to do a 30 min run / 1 min walk. I was surprised to see myself not slowing down on the off road patches!

The race venue was great, I had trained in that area in the past.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water. I could have pushed a little more on the 2nd 5 km.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, had post-race food, drank a lot of water and stretched while waiting for the shuttle to take us back to the Canada Post facility parking lot. That was about 45 minutes....

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure but I know that I could have definitely gone a little bit faster on the 2nd 5 km and be a little less conservative.

Event comments:

I will do this race again next year. It's nice to be able to race at dusk for a change!
