Overall Rank = 238/634

Age Group Rank = 35/51
Pre-race routine:

Woke up. Showered, brushed my teeth, put in my contacts and got dressed.
Event warmup:

Waited for AmyJo. We drove to the place to wait for the shuttle. It picked us up. Fun. Ran into transition and set up my stuff. Got on my wetsuit and jumped into the water for a little pre-race swim.
Swim
  • 37m 55s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Calm waters. Good breathing. I don't like clockwise courses much because it's hard to site, but this wasn't so bad.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

This took forever for some reason.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster
Bike
  • 1h 09m 58s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Good times. I had fun on the ride. Saw a wicked crash at about mile 20. A young lady decided for some unknown reason to swerve WAYYYY to the left and took out some dude who was FLYING! It looked quite painful.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Good times.
Transition 2
  • 02m 25s
Comments:

Not a bad T2.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 49m 8s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. Started overheating about mile 4 so I dialed it back a notch for a mile then ran again at 6. Slowed for water stations and actually drank some Gatorade since I wasn't poppin' Endurolytes.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Got a banana and water and medal and walked around talking to other BTers and some fellow DONKS! Talked to Crowny and his missus who gave me shit for wearing the super small tri shorts. It was either that or the onesie and I know I'm a dbag in the onesie, so it seems it's a no-win situation. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Damn my short legs and long schlonger. It kept getting wrapped around and muckin' up the works. Such is life.

Event comments:

Good times. I'd recommend the race to anybody.

Oh and I owe Crowny and his wife BIG TIME for coming to the train station to get my ass when the train conductor was going to call secuirty and have me escorted out. Apparently they don't like it when people try to bribe them. So they weren't allowing bikes since it was air and water show weekend. So I tried to slip the dude a $20 to let me take on my bike. It didn't work like it does in the movies. He must not be from Chicago.

THANKS CROWNY!!! YOU'RE MY HEEEE-RO!

GOOD JOB OUT THERE BUDDY!!

Sorry I didn't hang around after I finished to talk to any of y'all, but after my stint in the medical tent for my stomach muscle injury, I felt so defeated, I just wanted to go.

And your race report, is fricking priceless....love the comment about the shorts!

Let's get together and train soon...you doing Accenture??

Good job T.

There was a guy in shorter shorts I think.

You are such a trouble maker, getting kicked off the train for bribing at conductor.  Heh.  Nice one.

Good to see ya out there today!

Nice to have met you, Tony, and great effort.

It's not that bribing train conductors is against the rules, or that he wasn't from Chicago, the size of the bribe was too small...

Great job yesterday.   I was wondering who the guy running with three legs was.

Nice meeting you this weekend.  To add to what Force said, you didn't adjust your bribe for inflation.

I don't think they liked that you were wearing 2 goggles AND a pair of super shorts on the train.

Dang lucky you didn't get jail time for that.

Now, for the race - looks like a SOLID performance!  Nice job, Tony!  EEEAAAWWW!!!

How 'bout the pace booty out there!?  Top notch I would say.

Your train excersion confuses me but a lot of what you do does.

Hey!  Nice race!

Hey - great race.

Great weekend you during the weekend.  You had a smokin' run!  Next time just tie your bike down to the top of the train and be done with it!

Great race and great RR.  Nice to have some dinner with you as well.

Next year I am expecting you to do the whole thing in a speedo (bannana hammock, if you will).  Now that would be short shorts.

The plan has been formulated. Watch for Team Bananahammock. Hangin' low at a triathlon near you in 2009.

Only you, Tony. Only you.

Congrats on the speedy new PR. And congrats on having nice tri friends like Crowny to dig you out of your mess. Glad to see you had calm waters and didn't drown. Sounds like a great race day.
