Overcast
Total Time = 1h 24m 13s
Overall Rank = 219/350
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 10/8
Pre-race routine:

the day before i ate lots of carbs, like i normally do. But i actaully had pasta for lunch and dinner.
I focused on water intake and electolyte intake too.
Drove with a friend to race site in Cordele.
Had to stop adn eat dinner and realized i had for gotten my race belt. I had to make one at the Local Hobby Lobby. It was great!
Event warmup:

Got to transition early for packet pickup. Set up bike, finined coffee, talked to NAMC peeps.
Took a quick spin on bike and a quick dip in the water. Then waited for race to start.
Swim
  • 09m 3s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a good swim for me. I got my rhythm by the second bouy. I really felt strong on this swim.
my goal was sub 10 min.
What would you do differently?:

always swim faster!
Transition 1
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

This was a fairly long run from the water to the T area. I knew it would be challenging, but i managed to run the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

i fumbled a bit with my shoes, need to work on that.
Bike
  • 41m 27s
  • 13.6 miles
  • 19.69 mile/hr
Comments:

This was a good bike course, nice and flat with some fairly sharp turns thrown in.
I felt like i coudl go faser on teh bike, but i really wanted to save my legs for the run. I ahve a tendency to trash my legs for the run. I felt good though becaue i did not see any other Athenas on teh bike course.
What would you do differently?:

i need to break 20 mph avg on the bike for a race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

This was ok. Fumbled with socks for a few extra seconds.
Run
  • 30m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

I saw the one Athena i was trying to beat as i was running out and she was going into T. So i picked it up and did my first mile in 8:41. I knew i could not hold that pace, so i backed off and held half mary race pace. I did walk through the aid stations just bring HR down so i didnt get Anaerobic.
What would you do differently?:

My run is always the challenge. When i started this last year, i knew that if i made it to the run, i would survive. but now i think differently having had trouble running the in past. So i just need to work at harder and faster brick workouts.
I will say that this is the fastest 5k run during a sprint that i have had ever.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some water and orange slices adn waited for results to post. Then had to wait for Awards ceremony since i got 1st Ath. Hung with my NAMC peeps and chatted about teh annoying gnats and ants.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

confidence in my ability to race.

Event comments:

This race was great becasue of teh venue and GA Multisport. I just felt like it was a bit unorganzied after. They ran out of medals and they didnt have all of teh awards plaques. And where was the Watermelon??

Great run!  I didn't realize you PR'd the run!  You are correct about the watermelon, but don't forget the missing beef jerky either.
