Subject: Is there are HRM/GPS watch....
I am looking to get a watch that I can wear for open water swims that will tell me how far I have swam. Any suggestions?

Sure. If you don't mind the risk of it being ruined.

Plenty of people swim with their Garmins, often in a ziploc bag under their swim cap. But occasionally I hear of one who had it short out. Certainly not recommended by the manufacturer.

No no no ....  The 405 is not meant to be worn swimming. There is even a warning on it that says if you swim it may short out and burn your arm.

LOL...I guess that puts a whole new meaning on "Water resistant," especially since some of the lower model ones say down to 30 meters water resistant.  That's like saying a tire is puncture resistant, but only if you don't actually drive on it.    Thanks for the "real deal" update though.
