From my vast experience base of 1, I would say IMKY.  :-)

I think a lot depends on the what you like and what your stengths are.  Do you like hills or flats?  Wind or hills?  Salt water or fresh water?  Lakes or rivers?  Warm water or cold?  Wetsuit or no wetsuit.  Easy to get into?

IMKY is easy to get into, has some hills but no serious climbs, has a flat run course, is in fresh water that is warm, is in the summer and relatively close to home.  For me, this was a good first IM race.

I'm sure this is no help.  :-)

pick one as close to home as possible so you can train on the course....or else you could just do IM Western Australia and be a bad arse.

Well, assuming you want to do an MDot branded race, than i would say any race you can get in as they are getting harder each year to sign up for.

You would think that WTC would recognize the fact that 1-3 more races in the US might be needed.

One close to home. You have enough to worry about, and taking extensive travel (and particulaarly flying and transporting your bike) out of the equation just simplifies things.

The one that makes the most sense from a training perspective, travel perspective and goal perspective.

For example, if you live in Maine, don't choose an event in June and hope that the weather agrees with you and that you can ride outdoors a lot.

There is no "easy" ironman ...... every single one posts unique challenges.

One that is closeby, that was suggested by a couple of other peeps above, and one that you have trained, prepared for, and are ready for.
