Just got the e-mail today ... and it's coming up fast!

Sporteve Playa Del Rey Triathlon - October 5th, 2008
VBC Multisport LLC is excited to announce the Sporteve Playa Del Rey Triathlon, a benefit for collegiate triathlon that celebrates the city's crosstown rivalry. Set along the beautiful bluffs of Dockweiler State Beach in Playa Del Rey, the Sporteve Playa Del Rey Triathlon encourages students, alumni, and the community at large to "throw down the gauntlet," as all proceeds from the event are donated to the UCLA & USC Triathlon Teams. Competitors will swim 600 meters, bike 20K, and run 5K on one of the flattest and fastest courses in Southern California. In 2009 VBC Multisport hopes the see the race expand to include both sprint and Olympic-distance events.

Sporteve is a sweet store and they put on some nice training sessions and clinics. The other collegiate tri, IronBruin, where SC/LA go head to head is already a benefit for CAF, so it's great to have something where they can raise money for their teams.

Guess they got a new big sponsor - i liked the old name/logo (no longer viewable, but basically wings) better

Actually, you can see the "wings" logo separating sections of the home page

At any rate, great venue for a tri.  Bike "mostly" flat but there are a couple decent rollers that should separate the women from the girls

Ooohh... I would totally be all over this, if I wasn't doing a half marathon that day already... sigh.
