Swim
Comments: I think this course was a little long. The sea grass (or whatever it was) made this a challenging swim. Nothing like going for a big long pull and coming up with a handful of grass and junk. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I felt really strong in the water. Transition 1
Comments: My rack was kind of over in the corner so it was a longish run to both bike and run exit. What would you do differently?: Nada Bike
Comments: I pushed so hard on this bike I was cross eyed. I was actually a little afraid I was going to fry my legs and not have anything for the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: In and out... What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I was a bit concerned about the run seeing as a) my legs were sore before the race even started and b) I was going all out on the bike. What resulted is the best run I have ever had off the bike and a new 5k PR. When I ran out of transition I had to push to get my cadence up to where I wanted it to be, but after that I settled into a "comfortably hard" pace and never really felt like I was going to fade. It was great to feel like that for a change! I had to run the last uphill and finishing straight at a dead sprint to hold off the guy behind me. What would you do differently?: Since I don't race with a watch or anything I wasn't aware of how close to breaking 20 min I was, had I known that I could have found 24 more seconds somewhere on the course. Post race
Warm down: Got some water and walked over to the club tent to watch the other finishers. Big thanks to all the NAMC folks out there cheering and cowbelling in the rain. Also congrats to Team Sportfactory for winning the small club classification of USAT-SE. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to work on the swim to be more competative, it's obvious that I lost this race on the swim. 1:07 last year would have been good for 3rd so you can see how fast this race has become. Event comments: One of THE best races around. Kim and her club do a fantastic job of putting on a great race. Last updated: 2008-08-16 12:00 AM

After working until 11pm the night before, I got up at the crack of stupid to drive down to PTC. Of course I arrived entirely too early (if I wasn't first I was close to it), so I had plenty of time to check in and set things up. This was a good thing since I left my swim bag at LTF on Thursday, so I had to find someone to borrow goggles from. Luckily I ran into a guy from PTC that I had done IM LOU with last year and he let me borrow his goggles for the swim. I passed on this good race karma by letting one of my teammates borrow my Bell bike helmet when one of the USAT officials told him the Rudy project helmet he had been using all year wasn't approved in the US.
Walked around alot...does that count?
