Total Time = 2h 55m 57s
Overall Rank = 145/
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 9/11
Pre-race routine:

Ride about 1/2 mile to race site. Set up transition.
Event warmup:

Not much.
Swim
  • 31m 42s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was okay but I could have done better. It was a long way to the first turn and I kept thinking that the course was long. I felt okay. Rounding the last buoy and heading into shore one of the woman who started in the next wave was passing me. I kept up with her for the remainder of the race so I know I could have gone faster earlier in the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Positive thinking.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Took more time than I wanted to. Couldn't get my gel bottle into my trisuit pocket. Messed around with it for about 15 secs.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 49s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.92 mile/hr
Comments:

I never felt great on the bike today. Started off slowly and my legs were hurting for the first couple of miles. Started getting into a rythym later but wasn't close to my normal speed for an Oly.
What would you do differently?:

Don't know.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Decided to wear socks so that slowed me down a little.
Run
  • 1h 02m 20s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

It sucked. My first mile was slightly uphill so it was slwer than I wanted. Up unti mile 4 I didn't feel too bad but mile 5 was really slow, maybe becuase of some hills. Mile 6 wasn't too bad but it seemed like it would never end.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around. Cold towel on head.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure. I wasn't too excieted about doing this race. We got to the site on Saturday and spent a couple of hours helping sweep some areas of the course. I also think I was a little dehydrated since I was peeing a lot yesterday and last night.

Event comments:

Sharon played the National Anthem on her flute. I was very proud of her. Unfortunately, I didn't do as well in the race!!

I had the worst headache last night and felt like crap today. Must have been dehydrated or sick yesterday. That's a good excuse.
