Overall Rank = 159/299

Age Group Rank = 16/20
Pre-race routine:

Start time was 11 a.m. I woke up at about 7 a.m. and fixed my flat tire... ugh... I ate some oatmeal at about 8 a.m., drank some coffee. Then I went to the farmer's market with my family. Came home, got my stuff together and was at the park by 10 a.m. Checked in, set up transition, then chatted with folks until I was called to enter the chute at 10:40.
Event warmup:

no real warm-up...
Swim
  • 06m 29s
  • 302 meters
  • 02m 09s / 100 meters
Comments:

I just don't know what the deal is... I can do 750 at a 2:00/100m pace... but not here... but several seconds faster than last year.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster, but I just don't know how....
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

must practice this... faster by a couple seconds over last year.
What would you do differently?:

practice
Bike
  • 34m 32s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.11 mile/hr
Comments:

I came out of T1, mounted and pedaled out of the access road in my middle ring... Once I turned out of the park, I went into the big ring and didn't come out until I approached the dismount line. I am really pleased with this bike. I hit the turnaround point and then looked down to see the spedometer say 18.2 and indicate that that speed was below my average to that point. I pushed it hard... faded a little near the end, but I passed two riders at one point and some stupid pedestrians on the course and I was cranking away at 23+mph.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training... I think that made a huge improvement.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

cut almost 30 seconds off this time from last year... excellent! I think I can get it under 1:00.
What would you do differently?:

nothing really.... maybe some yankz or elastic laces... perhaps a little faster that way...
Run
  • 31m 59s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

while running is my weakness.... I am pleased with this run.... It was my fastest 5k at the end of a tri. I kept my turnover high, by keeping a song in my head. I ran through the pain of a side stitch. I just kept moving and wouldn't give up.
What would you do differently?:

run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around... ate.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

myself

Event comments:

Another good race... I am pleased with this race as always.

Way to burn it up!!! Congrats on the PR! Pool swims, eh, they're weird. You did great anyway. Super smokin' on the bike, and way to push through that stitch. That's some nasty pain and you did AWESOME!

Way to rock the course!!  Great job!

Yankz are faster, but they are hard to get adjusted.  I'm actually thinking about going back to real shoe laces because my feet fall asleep all the time.
