I met several BTers over the weekend who are heading down to volunteer for IMKY.  Sounds like we will be well represented both in the race on on the volunteer front.  Who's heading down to volunteer.  What are you doing?

I'll be heading down Thurday.  Hoping for a little spin on the bike course.
Friday - Athlete check in all day
Saturday - Playing in the water and spending too much money
Sunday - Timing backup, gear bags, and finish line
Monday - Awards banquet

I'm signed up for the awards banquet on Monday. I work Sunday, the first and last bike water stop is in the front yard of work, so I plan to help out when I can. After work I plan to head downtown and help out where needed.

So I'll be there as follows (all on Sunday)

1) at the swim, probably handing out water/Gatorade

2) then off to catch bikes from 12-3

3) then into the mens change tent from 3:30 to 6:30

4) then off to the finish line from 7- midnight

If you don't run into me somewhere on course this Sunday then you may not have done the race!

I'll be wearing the approved "volly" shirt and my BRIGHT YELLOW "IM" visor and my "ZZ Top approved" goatee/beard.

I'll be everywhere! Rooting loudly, of course!

HAVE FUN and BE SAFE!
Paul

I'm very excited to race and will be sure to try and thank all the volunteers on race day. For some of you, it sounds like you're pulling multiple "volly" shifts and that is awesome but please make sure you eat between shifts and before you get too weak to keep me on my feet at the finishline around midnight!

I want to thank everyone for volunteering in advance!  I might forget to thank you during the race.  Not sure how well my mind and body will be working toward the end.  Hope a BTer catches me at the finish line!!!  :-)

If you're looking for someone to trust, I'm not sure I am  your best choice.   HOWEVER, I will keep and eye out for Sharon and will make sure that she does indeed have LOTS of fun.

Just got word that my assignment has changed.......instead of catching bikes and working the change tents my wife and I are now going to be on course spotters for the womens pro race.....not sure what all it entails but we will be working directly with WTC/IM Live so we should have good access to the course....

That means, of course if you hear someone cheering people on from a "Race Official" car, that will probably be me! Or if you see some knucklehead on a cheap MTB tooling around the run course and hollering at everyone...that too could be me!

But, I WILL still be in the finish chute to help everyone in the last 5 or so hours!

Went the volunteer check in about 6 to pick up my shirt. The director of volunteers was there and said he has some huge holes to fill on the run from late afternoon to finish. So if somebody wants to jump on that wagon theirs plenty of seats.
