Age Group Rank = 1/1
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at hotal, ate some Cheerios and thats it.
Swim
  • 32m 41s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

I missed one buoy, and went on the other side of it, but not by much. I wasn't very good at sighting either I had my head out of the water a lot which hurt my stroke, but at the same time I went off course often enough that I needed to look and find my place.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, this was a really good time for me, I'm impressed.
Transition 1
  • 03m 39s
Comments:

It was a long hill and set of stairs to get the T1.
What would you do differently?:

The time is slow for me, maybe it was the length of T1 but no worries.
Bike
  • 1h 51m 34s
  • 25 miles
  • 13.44 mile/hr
Comments:

This course was two laps also. I went around the course by car the day before and it looked like there were some nice flats but really it was a slight uphill so my biking was maybe at 10-12 which for me sucks. Training on the W&OD Trail is just not going to cut it.
What would you do differently?:

Train on more hills, longer rides. This was not the bike ride I would have liked to have.
Transition 2
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Whatever, switched shoes can't changed that!
Run
  • 1h 20m 26s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 12m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

This by far was my worst event and my time shows it, but in reality I wasn't that bad, most times were about an hour. I ran a lot of it, all the downhills and walked all the uphills, I don't remember too much pain in my legs or ITB, so I was happy with it. You know, I'm slow but it's OK. I wasn't racing to win.
What would you do differently?:

Well, my training is going to focus more on running, but really taking care of my ITB and going slow and steady. Maybe train on some hills.
Post race
Warm down:

PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWHICHS! It was fantastic. A little strecth here and there.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just having the mind-set that I'm racing injured certainly didn't push me to go faster and thats OK, you know next year I'm going to rock this time!
The best thing: I GOT FIRST PLACE! I was the only one in my age group but still FIRST PLACE!

Event comments:

The thing that really ticked me off, I mean I was hot! During the run, I understand that I'm slow and whatever but the race volunteers left the water stations! WTF? I'm still out here running around and it's kinda your job to help me out. It was just discouraging that they pretty much were closing down the course before I was done! Plus, it's not the races fault but the road to get out of the race was the same as the run course, so everyone who finished first were leaving already and all those cars on the road were annoying.

Swimming
00:32:41 | 1640 yards | 01m 59s / 100yards
Age Group: 0/1
Overall: 0/
Performance: Good
Suit: None
Course: It was two laps in the lake, I was worried about it this being my first lake swim, but the water was pretty warm and the only bad part was getting in and having to step through lot's of seaweed and crap. About half-way through on the start of my second lap I got hit in the face and got my googles knocked off, but that was a quick fix, sorta.
