Before all my weekday morning workouts, I eat two pieces of WHITE toast with strawberry preserves and water (sometime some gatorade as well). Before my long runs, I might add some fig newtons to that breakfast. On my weekend long ride, I always practice pre-race breakfast before the ride. Seriously, I practice my pre-race nutrition like 35 times a year (not doing it so much now as I am not riding long anymore (did IM in July)). Immediately after, I eat chocolate milk, or more white toast with jelly, or cereal, etc. It really depends on the workout. The longer or more intense the workout, the more attention I pay to getting in those fast-breaking carbs right after, then eating a real meal like 45 mins later... |
