Subject: Let's talk Breakfast

What do you guys eat? before workout? after it?

I'm curious because I've noticed that some don't eat much and some eat a lot - especially after the workout.

 I ask because I'm also trying to establish a routine for myself.

Under 90 minutes run or two hours on the bike:
Before: Nothing but coffee
After: Normal breakfast, which is a few pieces of fruit most mornings.

Over 90 minutes run or two hours on the bike:
Before: A bagel or two, maybe with honey or jelly, and coffee
After: Protein shake and a bowl of cereal.

It's total personal preference. Before all my weekday morning workouts, I eat two pieces of WHITE toast with strawberry preserves and water (sometime some gatorade as well). Before my long runs, I might add some fig newtons to that breakfast.

On my weekend long ride, I always practice pre-race breakfast before the ride. Seriously, I practice my pre-race nutrition like 35 times a year (not doing it so much now as I am not riding long anymore (did IM in July)).

Immediately after, I eat chocolate milk, or more white toast with jelly, or cereal, etc. It really depends on the workout. The longer or more intense the workout, the more attention I pay to getting in those fast-breaking carbs right after, then eating a real meal like 45 mins later...

I have the same breakfast nearly every single morning - 2 eggs, a cup of yogurt and a bowl of oatmeal with fruit and almonds mixed in. If I wake up late, it's a bowl of Kashi GoLean Crunch.

After workouts under 1 hour, I have either chocolate milk or a protein shake, depending on what I'm craving. After workouts over an hour I have endurox.
