Comments: This was a good fun event to do with friends. We were all worried about the Emerald Bay hill, turned out to be nothing compared to Spooner Summit. Once we got past Emerald Bay, the rest of the ride was easy through Kings Beach. I lost my legs somewhere near Tahoe Vista. I started squirming in my seat after lunch in Kings Beach. Spooner kicked my butt and I ended up in the med tent at the last rest stop for some liquids and ice. I was overheating and dehydrated. From Spooner to the end it was a lot of downhill, but the hills they throw in there kill you too. What would you do differently?: Actually ride my bike in the three weeks up to the event. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and got a massage and mowed down on the pasta feed. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hills. I love living in the mountains, but really? Event comments: The volunteers are great at this event. The rest stops are perfectly spaced throughout the lake and are well stocked with fruit, cookies, potatoes and salt. Woke up late, ate some cheerios on the way to the race while the roommate drove. Met up with Matt, hit the registration tent and we were off. The ride wasn't really timed, so no worries that I missed my start time. :)
N/A - It's a 71 mile ride!
