Swim

  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

This includes a 1/2 mile run from the lake to the transition, so actual time is closer to 36 minutes which I am VERY happy with. It was a long enough run that they let us have T0 (shoes by the water to put on and run up).

Bike

Comments:

Some serious headwinds and some serious tailwinds out there today.
Transition 2
  • 03m 35s
Comments:

This would have been MUCH faster but I had the worst hot spot on my foot I've ever had. I didn't know it until I dismounted and my foot flexed but it was terrible. I spent about 2 minutes sitting on my towell bending my toes back with my hand and literally almost crying. Tried to rub the bottom of my foot and I couldn't even touch it.

It's the closest I've ever come to dropping out of a race... but I just got up and started walking in agony... and thankfully, the motion of walking fixed it up in in about 1/4 mile I was able to start jogging and go on to have a great run.
Run
  • 2h 02m 58s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was to go sub 2:00:00, but with the hot spot, and the sun BEARING down on us for the entire run, I just couldn't pull it off. I'm still pretty happy with this run, as I passed a TON of people on the run... just picking them off one at a time and not once did someone go with me. I'm really thankful it wasn't humid today, as it allowed me to stay cool (I'm a MAJOR sweater).
Post race
Warm down:

Fall asleep in chair and sit around to see if I got a podim spot. Turns out I got 2nd Clydesdale.

Event comments:

Piranha gets a B- for me today. Aid stations were runing out of stuff when I was going through, and there were lots of people behind me. I'm pretty sure some people got screwed on the bike if they were counting on bottle exchange. Lots of little things could be done much more efficiently in Piranha events... but overall, a decent race at a great venue.

So glad you found a half iron to squeeze into when Hanna messed up Patriot's for you.  Nice job out there working through the heat and the hot spot on your foot!

Did the swim freak anyone else out??? This was my first Tri, and granted, I started out with the sprint, but I swear, it felt like a scene out of Friday the 13th, and I could barely keep my head under water... Everything I practiced in the pool, was thrown right out the window and my fight or flight instincts kicked it! I also ran the wrong way for a couple mins so that added time, which I was not too thrilled about! Also, I wish we got more than a dog tag for finishing, bah!

Nice job out there   Glad you were able to find another race after Patriot's was cancelled.  OdentonMan would have been tough to pull off.

Solid race for you.  Much better than Odentonman would have been for sure!  So glad it worked out for race day registration.  We finished the swim almost exactly at the same time...so it easily could have been you that PPP took under!!!  And based on your compliment comment you wouldn't have objected!  Good to meet you.

Congrats!

Great way to finish picking off folks one by one on the run.

You need to figure out the hot spots as IM bike is a bit longer
