Swim
Comments: I was pretty nervous about maybe getting dizzy since I haven't been in the water since my last tri on July 12 and the whole dizzy thing. They had swim buddies so I requested one. I did fine, but did feel a bit dizzy, just felt better that I had my own personal escort. Again GREAT VOLUNTEERS and what a nice thing for the people who felt like they needed it. Below avg due to no training and little dizzy/nervousness. I was happy with this because I did it and it got me back in the groove. I was able to pass quite a few people still which gave me a little confidence boost. What would you do differently?: I just really need more OWS time. I think if I'm able to get more I'll be fine. and it would be good to actually swim a little :) Transition 1
Comments: I don't know my times yet, but I took a LONG time. It was fine though I felt comfy by the time i left T1 and was ready to bike. Dried my feet, which was pointless since my tri suit was still wet :) LOVE my little stool to sit on - works perfect. Wetsuit got a little stuck when I forgot to just peel it off inside out, remembered and no problem. What would you do differently?: just more practice at this Bike
Comments: Did I say the volunteers were AWESOME - really - the police, TONS of volunteers Roads were closed to traffic, made it great. I passed alot of people which was really nice for a change. No idea what my time was so that's not to say I was fast, but it felt good for me and I enjoyed it so that was great. Got a chance to chat with a couple ladies. One woman and I were pushing each other - it was great. What would you do differently?: Training a bit more may have helped, but it was a fun ride and felt good. Transition 2
Comments: I was pretty tired since I tried to push it knowing I wouldn't be fast in the run. I walked through transition. The way it was set up you had to go all the way around and all the way back around to get to your bike/rack for run, that was a little annoying but I liked the overall experience so much this was tiny. I felt like I did OK on time once I actually got to my spot. What would you do differently?: Maybe job through transition. Run
Comments: It was a good little challenge for me. My goal was to "run" the whole way and I did once past the water station at the front. I did walk at the water station just to gulp down the water/gatorade. I met a woman who was doing her first tri - we chatted and traded back and forth. She really pushed up hills and would catch me, then down and on the flats I would catch her. We ended together - really nice. It was her first tri! I got passed by alot of people but amazingly passed a few myself. A good effort for me especially since I haven't run at all since mid-July. What would you do differently?: well - i need to run more and work on my running. That is my main goal over this winter. I really want to improve my running Post race
Warm down: Went thru the food area and grabbed a bagel/banana/water. Found some other RTB'ers and chatted for quite a while. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. I want to do it again next year. It was so well organized, the volunteers/police were fantastic, the courses were well marked and manned, packet pick up was a cake walk compared to Danskin. Just a great experience for me. My goal was to finish and I did and I feel like I did better than just finish - I tried to push but not too hard to get injured and met quite a few people which was really fun. Egg sandwich on the road. Brought my thermos with coffee since I got there really early and my wave was at 8:17a. Easy parking. Set up transition, walked around saw Lynne! She was starting early so made sure to be there when she came out - she was 2nd on the swim - speedy! Chatted with others - AWESOME volunteers and met some nice ladies. Ate a Clif Bar and some Gatorade
Got in the swim warm up, stretch and a bit of jogging.
