Total Time = 5h 48m 45s
Overall Rank = 362/847
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 72/124
Pre-race routine:

Ate 1.5 PB&J sandwiches. Got to transition to set up later than wanted to. Bad location for transition. Long lines for bathroom.
Event warmup:

Swam a short distance in ocean.
Swim
  • 43m 27s
  • 2310 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Forgot to bring gel to beach and eat before start. Started at back of wave on beach.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on not stopping after bumping into people.
Transition 1
  • 07m 35s
Comments:

LONG run from beach to transition, and from entrance to transition to bike - accounts for much of T1 time. Trouble getting wetsuit off. Slow to put on socks on wet feet. Ate a gel.
What would you do differently?:

Should put gloves on bike and put on while riding.
Bike
  • 3h 04m 57s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.17 mile/hr
Comments:

Seemed like new tri shorts didn't give enough padding - butt was going numb. Had to stop to pee at 27 mile aid station. Definitely felt stronger on second half, stayed aero much better.
What would you do differently?:

Work more on rollers. Stay aero for first half. Get better tri shorts. Better consistency on fueling. Probably didn't drink enough water. Should have eaten gels on regular consistency. Didn't take enough electrolyte tabs.
Transition 2
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

Jumped off bike on right side, should have jumped off on left.
What would you do differently?:

Way too much stuff still in tri jersey pockets from ride, should have emptied. Started away from bike and then came back to get water bottle. Probably should have gone without.
Run
  • 1h 50m 11s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty good until last 4 miles, started to feel lack of fueling. Got sunburned during run.
What would you do differently?:

Take regular gels and electrolyte tablets. Take stuff out of tri jersey pockets and only carry essentials. Get spray sunscreen and reapply to arms, neck, shoulders before run.
Post race
Warm down:

Didn't feel too hot after finish, had to lay in the shade for a while. Felt better after eating a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably didn't fuel enough on bike and run. Stopped too frequently during swim to get oriented. Didn't stay aero enough on bike.

Event comments:

Needed more bathrooms at start. Too long a run between swim and transition. Don't make people pick up race packets the day before or allow someone else to pick up for them.
