Pre-race routine:

Posting this late.9/12

Didn't get any breakfast because I had to get up so early and nothing was open that I could find. I should have been better prepared but this was unexpected.
Event warmup:

I made sure my bike was in working order and all my fluids/nutrition were ready. Went to the bathroom.
I hadn't done an ocean swim yet so I figured I'd better do some practice. Everything was fine except I ripped my wetsuit arm. Oh well.
Swim
  • 40m 53s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

First half of the swim went great! I managed to find some feet that were pretty close to perfect speed for me. Somewhere on the return trip my goggles started to leak. It made sighting a little off and I had lost the person I was following. I swam the last 1/4 with my left eye closed pretty much.
What would you do differently?:

Not have my goggles leak?
Transition 1
  • 05m 40s
Comments:

Fairly long run to T1

Strippers were there which was cool. Honestly though, I probably could have got my suit off just as fast without them. Not like in AZ.

Putting everything back into bags seemed like a hassle for some reason and took longer than it should have.
Bike
  • 3h 14m 56s
  • 56 miles
  • 17.24 mile/hr
Comments:

The course would probably have been great if I was a better climber. One problem I had was that it seemed like whenever there was a flat or downhill (where I could make up some time) there was also traffic to deal with so passing was sometimes an issue.
I lost my water bottle along the way so my hydration/nutrition was a little behind. My Aero bag was apparently rubbing my front tire because a watter bottle and gatorade bottle both got leaks!
The end of the bike was a little weird going through town and over some bumps etc... Not terrible though.
What would you do differently?:

Fix my hydration set up. Train more consistant.
Transition 2
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

As I entered I heard one of the volunteers say this was the last port-o-pot and pointed at the couple sitting there. I don't know why but I "panicked" and went in one. I didn't really need to I just felt like I better. LOL!
What would you do differently?:

Not hit the can!

That volunteer was probably me? Or it could have been an older guy, there was only the two of us working the dismount line.
