Total Time = 1h 10m 13s
Overall Rank = 97/497
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 2/24
Pre-race routine:

Ate a pb sandwich, drank water.
Swim
  • 08m 29s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. I think there were too many people in my heat though -- about 150 women. It was pretty crowded and I got punched in the head a few times. I also swam over a couple people.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Well, except learn how to swim faster :)
Transition 1
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Ok transition. I need to practice these and move faster!
What would you do differently?:

Move faster!
Bike
  • 43m 40s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 17.18 mile/hr
Comments:

Not as good as my bike speed at Northeast, but I hauled booty so I'm happy. I think I was the 7th or 8th woman off the bike so I was happy. Two women really pissed me off during the early miles. I would pass them, then they would pass me and ride alongside each other so that I couldn't pass. They also told me I was a good pacer, so I'm guessing that they were drafting off of me. I lost some time trying to pass them, but I finally passed them for good at mile 8 or 9.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I pushed my hardest.
Transition 2
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

I don't know why I dallied so much here. It is slower than my T1 time. I would like to eventually be under a minute.
What would you do differently?:

Move way way faster. I think this is my slowest T2 of the season!
Run
  • 15m 31s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

I was expecting a slow run, because I haven't been running much lately (concentrating more on the bike and swim). I was happy with my time -- it was not an easy run!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked/stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow transition times :(

Event comments:

I really liked Marshman (it is its first year), but hope that next year the number of racers will be limited to around 300. The swim and bike portions were very crowded. So much so on the bike that people were not adhering to USAT rules for drafting, passing, blocking, etc. I will definitely put this on my race calendar for next year!!

Course: The bike course was 12.5 miles of rolling hills. Some of the hills were pretty long and steep. The downhills were nice, but you couldn't take many of them too fast because there were sharp turns. Oh, and to start and finish you had to run up and down a big grassy hill (I think my bike time would've been better had we not had that hill).

Great job nerozzi!  2 nd in your age group is awesome.  I'm envious.

I was in the first wave, and the start was somewhat of a clusterf**k.  We weren't sure if we were starting once in the water, and once we knew we weren't, we didn't know where to start from...and we knew we were going to start about 30 seconds before they actually started.  Hopefully, they get that planned better for next year.  I didn't realize you had so many starters in your wave.

The seaweed (?) grabbing at me while swimming was a bit amusing and annoying as well.

THe bike ride was nice...challenging, but not brutal.  I didn't see one ref the entire time so I guess those 2 bikers probably didn't get penalized...lots of cops though which was good since those roads weren't closed.

I liked this tri alot.  It is spaced a good time after NE that I didn't have to train much for it, but I also had time to recover.  I think I may do it next year.

Anyway, good job with this one.
