Subject: And the search begins for my first tri bike
Anyone have any preferences on bike brand for any reason (ie. customer support, fitment, name, etc.)?

I'm beginnig my search and only from either ads that pop up and/or an article on a Canadian mfg., this is where I'm starting. Can you give some tips on an entry level bike if these are not them in your opinion?

1) http://www.cervelo.com/bikes/2005/P2K.html#Highlights
2) http://www.louisgarneau.com/eng/catalog_prod.asp?catalogue=VE5§...

Any advice is appreciated
Eddie

"entry Level" bike is kind of a vague term. What is your budget. There are bikes from $600 up to $8,000. Set your budget, which will naturally narrow your choices.

I've only got a road bike, but as far as tri specific bikes everyone seems to rave about the cervelos. Recently I've been looking at Guru's but my tri specific purchase is a year or two down the road. But when I do begin to actively shop I'll start by test riding a Guru based upon the most recent reviews I have read on them.

Good question on the budget, makes a difference as to what brand/model to recomend.

I love my Cervelo Dual w/Ultegra 9, still think it's the best value out there, however the Dual 10 might not be so much of a value.

www.bikesportmichigan.com has a lot of reviews on tri bikes, check them out.

Of course, hit us up with any questions .

Thanks John. My budget cap is $2,000 (US). But when it comes to big ticket items (for me), such as this, give me a good argument and I've been known to go a little higher. Really, I would like to keep it in the $1,500+/-. I like the look of the cervelo right now but that may be due to heavy advertizing.

The Cervélo P2K is about as good as it gets...you can't go wrong with that one.  The Louis Garneau I know nothing about so I won't comment.  Take a look at the Guru Cron'alu (see linc below); it's a great looking bike, which has had great reviews (see lincs below).

Another gorgeous Canadian tri-bike is the Argon Mercury altough it is a bit pricey.
