Total Time = 2h 49m 25s
Overall Rank = 330/458
Age Group = M40-44
Age Group Rank = 32/40
Pre-race routine:

Got up and had a decent breakfast, brought bike and gear down to the Transition area and got it set up. Walked for a while and did some light stretching.
Event warmup:

mostly walking and stretching
Swim
  • 26m 4s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

Course seemed short and the 2nd leg was directly into a low sun and you could not see the bouys. Mostly just followed the pack. Did OK and not too much hand to hand combat. Course needed more bouys especially the leg into the sun.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster and try to draft better
Transition 1
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

wetsuit zipper stuck and very difficult getting the wetsuit off, it seemed to take forever.
What would you do differently?:

Other that the suit coming off everything went smooth
Bike
  • 1h 16m 14s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.56 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride on the new bike! Lots of hill climbs
What would you do differently?:

work on leg strength and try to maintain a cadence of at least 70
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

pretty smooth T2 had to rack bike amongst other peoples stuff thrown all over
Run
  • 1h 02m 28s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs started out very stiff especially the calfs. Slowly worked in but on the steep hill at mile .5 / 5.5 I power walked up it which seemed to loosen calfs up a bit and kept me moving as fast as everyone around me
What would you do differently?:

RUN RUN RUN More need to improve the run segment to make me happy
Post race
Warm down:

Fluid intake and had some bananas and PB with a couple of oreo's. Did some stretching of the legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just took this as a training segment and wanted to push harded than I did.

Event comments:

Race got off about 10 mins late due to traffic problems coming in to the park. The weather ended up nice for the event although the water was a little cold from some cool weather. Post race entertainment kind of got washed out in the evening due to fog and rain but it held out for the Lobsterbake. Only things I would change for the weekend was to have more guide bouys for the swim, needed more water at the finish, and they needed a port-a-pottie out on the run course for those emergencies that might arise.
