This is my last race of the season.  My "A" race is ancient history, but thought I'd do one last race for fun.  Anybody else doing this race?

I will be doing this as my first triathlon. Using it to figure out how these work as I am already signed up for the Columbia Triathlon next May.

I rode the new bike course yesterday to see if i could make it, and i did.  Not bad for only training for 4 weeks.  Been swimming at the Y for the last few weeks as well.

I rode it yesterday too.  I think anyone who has done the race in years past, but doesn't know the course has changed is in for a bit of a surprise.  From the description (rollers with a few hills), I didn't expect that many hills out there.

Yeah, the Trifind website has the old bike course listed.  The only reason i knew it was a different course was because i emailed the race director and got the map.  Should be fun though.

The run has been cut to 2 miles instead of 3.  The retirement community part in the beginning was removed.

How did your race go guys? Nice & wet out there today. Some spots it was hard to find road to ride on instead of wading through a creek. All in all though, I really enjoyed the race despite the rain. I was a little disappointed in the shortened run but yeah, guess you can just run the course your given. See you guys next year.

I had a good race.  I didn't swim until the 8th wave, so by the time I got out on the bike course the rain had really let up.

I had a pretty decent swim - about 8:30.

The bike was slow-- because of the rain and standing water at spots, I braked down hills and didn't carry much speed into the next hill.  Only averaged a little over 16 mph for about 56:00.

Even though the run was only 3 miles to begin with, I was happy when I heard they shortened it to 2 miles.  I'm a terrible runner!  I think my run split was about 19:00.  Total time just under 1:27.

When I left the YMCA, I think most of the times were posted, and I was listed as 6 out of 33 in my AG.  Because 1 or 2 of the guys in my AG placed overall, that leaves me at 4 or 5.  Cry  Great finish for me, but 1 minute faster, and I could have taken home some hardware.

Well i'm hooked on triathlons now.  This was my first and i was pretty happy with it.  only about 4 weeks of training.  I was in the 4th swim wave and got pouring rain the first 25 mintues of the bike.  rain hurts at 30 MPH.  Don't know official times, but by my watch, my swim was around 10 minutes, bike around an hour, and run about 20 minutes.  total time was about 1:37 something.  Fought some calf cramps on the bike and the beginning of the run, otherwise my run should have been about 5 minutes faster.

i did this one to see how i like it and what to expect for the Columbia Tri next May.  I intend to train hard and look to race columbia, instead of just going with the flow.

It's good to hear that you are hooked.  Cool

If you're ever looking for people to train with, come check out the new Central PA Tri Club.  We are trying to do semi-regular group rides out of the Harrisburg area on weekends, and some of us would like to do some OWS's at Pinchot.

I will have to check out the OWS in particular. I doubt I will travel to Harrisburg for a ride but I really need to get some in some OWS & I really don't like the idea of doing them alone.

On the "got hooked" note. Ironically enough, this tri last year got me hooked as well. I was somewhat disappointed in the course changes, only b/c I wanted to compare time on the exact same course after a year of training. Still really enjoyed the race & will be back again next year.

In case you haven't yet seen, the results are now posted: http://www.score-this.com/results.html

I wonder if that's what they mean when they say "water will be provided throughout the course?"
