I stink of chlorine!

Nobody has commented on it yet but perhaps they are just too polite.  Surely there has to be an alternative to chlorine in this day and age?

Yes, Copper Ionization can be used as a chlorine-free option.  Many residential indoor-pool owners use this technology.  I'm not sure if there is a size or effectiveness limitation to using it in a public pool.

The main place I swim has two pools, one is more saline based, the other chlorine based.  I regularly swim in the saline pool.

Guess what?  Salt is NaCl ...... still chloride in it ...... so my wife says I still smell like chlorine and she doesn't like it .........

When I was an AG swimmer as a kid it was a badge of honor when you swam enough to constantly smell of chlorine, to sweat chlorine...So Congrats!

There are some products that can help with the smell. Also a swim cap will help your hair.

But to answer your question, are other options, but it would be unlikely to find it in a public pool

Yep, it's not completely chemical free OR chlorine free.

But I notice that it's not nearly as bad, and my skin and hair feel better after a salt water pool swim than a regular swim.  Also, if I didn't lotion a lot after swimming in a regular pool.  My skin would really dry out.  Not so much after a saline swim.

Sure, there are bromine pools, too. I know several people who use that in their home pools.

But look at the price of chlorine. Really, most pools don't care what you smell like, they care about keeping the pool safe at the lowest cost. Unless you want to pay a boatload more money than you already do, chlorine is what you get.

Although I married a swimmer, she stopped swimming once out of college. I always kinda thought the smell was a bit of a turn-on. Then again, I go for athletes...

I can assure you, people do smell it. I used to have a girl friend who also swam and neither of us could smell it. A perfect solution. Having gotten back into swimming the last couple of years, my wife has definitely spoken up about it. I try to do the best showering after a swim, but after that I just remind her of the better or worse thing.
