Subject: Pregnancy Tests

Ok, so my wife has taken two different pregnancy tests, and both of them have had the same results. They are both the kind that have the control line, and if you are pregnant, then they have a second line. If you aren't, no second line.

On each of the tests, the second line has come up very faintly. Nowhere near solid like the control line. On previous tests she has taken that were negative, there was no line whatsoever. And to clarify, the tests she took yesterday are different brands, and they both had that same faint line. I understand the basic concept of how those tests work, but not much beyond that. Is it possible that since it would still be early in the pregnancy that her body isn't producing a lot of the hormones that the test picks up?

So what do you think? If it means what I think it does, I'm going to be a proud daddy again.Cool

*Disclaimer: yes, she is going to make a doctor appointment to get a professional's opinion.

Tri Take Me Away - 2008-09-26 7:28 AM Yup, a line is a line! Woohoo!!

X3! A line is a line is a line.  It's a qualitative test, so any amount of pregnancy hormone is going to trigger a +++.  Tests these days are pretty darn sensitive too.  CONGRATS!

I know from experience with many of these tests that if you are not pregnant, then no hormone is emitted and no line shows up. A faint line just means that the hormone is not present in huge amounts. If she were to keep taking the test each day, the line would get darker and darker...

So Congratulations daddy!

Yup.  I agree with the ladies.  For our first, my wife took a couple and the same thing happened, very faint lines.  But, as mentioned above, a line is a line.  Congrats Jeremy.

Thanks everyone. I guess that, like you all said, a line is a line! I think I'm in shock, but really excited. We are already starting to think about names. My 8-yo son heard us talking about it last night, so he knows, and he's just as excited to be a big brother. I just hope we aren't jumping the gun.

T-minus 9 months and counting!

A line is a line. If she pees on another stick in a couple days, it'll probably be darker. Or go get her a digital test that just says "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant". No interpretation required.

But one way or the other, she's knocked up. Good work, man.
