Once again they are changing the course. Its just like last year. This is what i see, the course is pretty much the same as last years final course. AS soon as you make that hard right in the lower section we hang a quick left just after the uncomfortable tech. down hill section. thats it at the bottom. At the top section depending on the group that you rode with, the first group rode the sec that is the main trail for this tear. There was a second group that was about 5 min behind the main group that ended up riding the 1st map trial that we are no longer riding. SO it you were in the first group you were on the right trial if you were in the second group, scratch that trial and get ready for more single track, which is alittle more techy.

The run course is the same as last year, the first hill climb is easy to run up just take it slow, I walked the second climb. I will be doing a hike up both hills this year, really dont want to twist anything before SOMA.

I will be doing the pre-ride with them on Sunday, maybe they wont change the course again by thing, but dont expect this map to be the final one... LAst year it change the day of the race...

I road the new course today and it only cut off 2 and a half minutes off my time. So I am at 22 minutes per loop. That is going to be a tough race, but I am really looking forward to this one. I will probably pre-ride the course a couple more times next week too.

Can't wait to hopefully see some of you tomorrow!  We are headed up today to bum around and check out a few mountain bikes that are up there.  Such a toss up, a very girl friendly Trek Fuel or a custom built Titus???

I'll be in a purple Tucson Tri Girls tri top tomorrow.  Good luck!

PBR was a blast! I think I like the offroad stuff a lot better. I hope there are a few Xterra races I can do in the Spring. The day was perfect, nice and cool in the morning. The water temp was 74. I saw Milton and Pirate girl during the mountain bike portions. I had a good race. I finished 10th overall and 5th in my age group, but since the top 3 overall finishers were in my age group. I got a 2nd place trophy for my age group. I love how that works. LOL   I will post a full race report and pictures later after they post the official times.

That was an interesting experience.  I ran from the swim (which I SWAM THE WHOLE THING! ) and got my stuff and started to head out to bike and couldn't figure out why my bike didn't seem to be going anywhere quick and realized that I had a flat.  This is the lesson in not using something new on race day!  I'm now the proud owner of a Titus Moto-Lite btw.  Way too much bike for someone like me!  So ripped the tire off and realized that it was tubeless (the guy couldn't remember) so I had to pull the rim strip out to which there was no rim tape!  So the Landis guys used some electrical tape and got me fixed up, but that was a good 10 min transition time.  Just kinda went downhill from there.  The first lap was learning, the 2nd was fun and the 3rd sucked because I was out there with some inexperienced riders and I kept having to stop.  The run just sucked cuz well, its the run.

Full race report later

I don't think I say you twice. LOL I do remember passing you on the section after the big down hill and there was a huge sharp rock in the trail that I saw a little too late and I had to bunny hop it.

That sucks you started the ride with a flat. I am glad you were able to get if fixed and finish out the race. You are right about the inexperienced riders. One made me crash and the third loop. This lady just wouldn't budge and I was coming up on her fast, I yelled on your left and she swerved left into me and I went off the trail into a huge rock and went down. I jumped up quick and got back going. When I caught up to her I said, "can you please let me by this time, I don't want to crash again, that hurt!" LOL

You know when I left T1 i thought your tire looked really low, it just didnt look right. However, nothing look quite right after the swim for me. "Try nothing new on race day" isnt that what we said to each other? Sorry to hear about the rest of your race. The running always sucks.

You finished the race. Congrates on that....

Yeah you passed me twice, I was thinking about knoking you over to say hi, but i thought better of it...

Swim went pretty good, should have done better. Bike, I started cramping about 1/2 mile into the bike, made the rest of the bike pretty sucky.. The course was pretty crowed, but loved the thrid lap it was pretty lonely for me but it was my fastest spilt.

check this out. finshing up the 2nd lap I saw a dude that as covered with cholla cactus, i mean all over his body, head-to-toe. Now that was painful. I would love to find a picture of that guy..

You should tell the bike guy it cost you a podium. A flat before you even get on the bike really sucks. But you finished a tough course, which is awesome, especially since you haven't been mountain biking that long! You looked much more in control than a lot of newbies I saw out there. Great job!!!

I hear ya. I was technically 4th, but the OA women's winner was in my AG, bumping me to 3rd and getting me a cool trophy! I was mid-pack in my AG on the swim, 2nd fastest AG bike, and slowest run. LOL. Need to work on that run! After I take a break though.

Sweet! My expectations were met!  I didn't finish last!  And I passed people on the bike!  And the swim!

Yeah the tire thing sucks, Erik is thinking when he was riding down to transition this morning he might have cruised over something because it was definatley fine while I was setting up.  Otherwise I rolled it over something on the way in.  Now I have to decide whether to put it back to tubeless or keep the tube for awhile.  Suggestions?  She's got a slime tube now.

Oh and in my husbands infinite wisdom he commented that one of the guys on their 24HOP said it would be nice to do a co-ed team.  So I'm gonna go try out the course one of these days and see if I can muster through it.  Why am I so freakin crazy?

Good job everyone!

I also participated in the PBR yesterday. It was my first Triathlon! I proved that you can go from semi-couch potato to Triathlete in 8 weeks! I did not see any of you (the ones I would recognize); I was too far back probably! The swim was interesting - my first time in open water - but I completed it in 20 minutes. Bike was fun and yes, the run sucked...

All in all I finished in the middle of the pack and 9th in my age group (old geezer) and had a blast! I'm already looking for the next one. Thanks to all for your encouragement and help!
