Subject: Newbie Questions

Hi guys, i am new to the forum and new to triathlons.  I have some questions about bike fitment.  I am 6' 6" and I am trying to decide what size bike to get.  Most bike co's only go around 62cm on their frame size that I have seen.

Is that going to be ok or should I look harder for a 64cm?

How much of a difference is just a normal road bike vs. the aero type tri bike?

Sorry if I am missing a newbie FAQ or "look here first"thread.

Thanks

go get fit at a bike shop.

what size bike will depend on the geometry of the frame - for example my tri bike is a smaller frame than my road bike.

I am a similar height as you , 6'5".  My answer would be go to a bike shop and try them out.  In my experience a 62 was plenty big for me, I didn't try a 64 as nobody had any in stock.  I did try a 60 that I think would have worked out just fine.  Frames are all different and fit differenty.  The key is to find a good shop and let them fit you to the bike.  I do think in general, you can get by with a bit smaller tri bike than road bike.
