Comments:

fastest amateur female split. Killed everyone in my wave, since this was a "fun" event for me I went pretty easy. Ran intolots of traffic from earlier waves especially at last turn heading backtoshore. Sun and sighting was a bit of a problem too -glad I was wearing polarized goggles.
What would you do differently?:

not much, maybe sight better and go abit harder.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

no splits...liked the suit strippers :)
my bike was in an awesome spot for transition.
What would you do differently?:

nothing

Comments:

Felt great on the boke - could have done another loop with no problem. I heard that the second hill on the way back was a killer, but it was not that bad at all! I think next year I will push a little harder on the bike, since this was my first 70.3 I wanted to be conservative.
What would you do differently?:

I had a gu issue, I taped my gus to the bike and they kept falling all over the place, then I squirted the stuff all over my hands and it dripped on my bike and shoes. I was a sticky mess! Next time, will use once of those Gu holders. Also, should have pushed harder -made my "shoot the moon" goal of sub 2:50 but really wanted to average above 20 mph.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

nosplit times, but I wasted :30 sec or so deciding to have salt tabs or not...
Run
  • 2h 26m 20s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

well, since I was only able to run for two weeks before the race after getting out of my walking cast for a stress fracture (was in a boot for over 6 weeks!) I think I did pretty well. Ran the first two miles at about 9 min pace, then started walking transitions, then started walking transitions and hills, then started walking 100 steps after running 400...
What would you do differently?:

Hopefully next year I won't go into the race just coming off of a major injury. Given the circumstances, all I wanted to do was finish, which I did. Power walking over 1/ the run :)
Post race
Warm down:

ugh - theline for the food was insane! So, horded Cliff bars and water then stood in line for over two hours.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury

Event comments:

Other than having to wait in line for litterally over 2 hours this was a fantastic race. I definitely want to race it again next year...healthy! I could have grabbed a spot for 70.3 worlds but already planned on doing Escape to Bermuda the week before. Can't wait to do this race again next year!
