Subject: RE: Aerohelmets without race wheels for beginner-intermediates?The MIT study was done well within accepted standards for aerodynamic wind tunnel testing at low speeds, a tricky test for any group of engineers or aerodynamic specialists.
One thing few people mention is that an aero helmet is entirely free speed. You have to use it optimally and that means remaining as still as possible on the bike. If you keep chaning your position and turning your head it is going to cost you time. It is important to maintain a good, streamlined, still position on the bike without lowering your head or turning it excessively side to side. This takes some practice and conditioning.
Once you master uisng the helmets correctly the difference on your bike split are noticeable. |
