Pre-race routine:

Steaks and baked potatoes for dinner, and to bed early. Up early, McDonalds for breakfast with a Killer Buzz. Met up with some folks and drove to the race site.

Event warmup:

1.1 mile ride to the start.

Comments:

First 40 miles were great. One Gu at 1 hour mark. Drank most of my water and half of my gatorade before the turn around. Half of pb&j and half a banana at turn around and filled up water bottle. Took about 15 minutes. Another Gu about half way back. Then just water and a little gatorade. Nauseated for the last 10 miles.

What would you do differently?:

Not much. Be in better shape. Try for a better time. Maybe eat a little differently.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm overweight and under conditioned. Also, my husband says my bike weighs a ton. It's a Specialized Dolce, so I don't think it's the bike holding me back.
