As mentioned on Gordo's board, Counterpart Coaching Coach Mitch Gold, Counterpart Coaching, and IM elite was hit yesterday by a drunk driver on his bike. Mitch broke his neck, however, is not paralyzed. If any of you are a fan and read his coaching tips or want to send good vibes or prayers his way, please do.

Holy crap!

If there is one thing I can't f*&#*@ thing I can't stand, it is DRUNK DRIVERS!

Drunk drivers are so freggin' STUPID.  There is absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving....that's why it really bothers me!

(Sry....I just had to vent...)

My prayers will be with Mitch Gold.

Thank you so much for the kind words and well wishes. For those that sent flowers, cards and emails, Thank you!

I’m at home now and doing very well. I broke my neck at C3 and will have a “halo” screwed to my head for 3-6 months. That particular break is usually accompanied by paralysis and the use of a respirator to breathe, so considering I’m able to walk, and a little uncomfortable, I feel fortunate.

They tell me I was really lucky, and for now I’m going to believe them.

Mitch

I saw the pictures of your helmet and new halo on Gordo's forum.

Thank god that you were wearing yours. I never ride without mine ( even around the block ), and this just further demonstrates why we wear them.

Glad that you are recovering, and that all things considered you'll be able to "walk away" from this one.

Thanks everyone,

The cards and emails keep coming in and I can't tell you how much they mean to me. Thank you!

I haven't spent much time on this forum, but I'll be sure to stop by more frequently now that I have a little more time during my day. If you think I might be able to help with a training or racing question please don't hesitate to ask.

Mitch

Mitch, I've been out of town and away from a computer for the last few days. Please let me join the rest of our forum to wish you a very speedy recovery from your bike accident. It bothers me to read about anybody getting hurt on a bike, and it really bothers me when our elites get hurt. I hope your awesome talent translates to a quick recovery for you.

But now that you have some time, can you help me get faster in the swim, bike, and run? ;-) Kidding, of course. Please keep us posted when you can; my thoughts and prayers are with you as you continue to recover.
