Elite Veteran  831    Northern Va/Metro D.C. |  Subject: IM coach and elite hit by drunk driverAs mentioned on Gordo's board, Counterpart Coaching Coach Mitch Gold, Counterpart Coaching, and IM elite was hit yesterday by a drunk driver on his bike. Drunk drivers are so freggin' STUPID. There is absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving....that's why it really bothers me! (Sry....I just had to vent...) My prayers will be with Mitch Gold. |

I’m at home now and doing very well. I broke my neck at C3 and will have a “halo” screwed to my head for 3-6 months. That particular break is usually accompanied by paralysis and the use of a respirator to breathe, so considering I’m able to walk, and a little uncomfortable, I feel fortunate. They tell me I was really lucky, and for now I’m going to believe them. Mitch |

I never ride without mine ( even around the block ), and this just further demonstrates why we wear them. Please let me join the rest of our forum to wish you a very speedy recovery from your bike accident. It bothers me to read about anybody getting hurt on a bike, and it really bothers me when our elites get hurt. I hope your awesome talent translates to a quick recovery for you. But now that you have some time, can you help me get faster in the swim, bike, and run? ;-) Kidding, of course.
